I think it's the pic, it looks pink (very light red) on my monitor too. All of the red in the image looks pink. heh

Captain Britain appears to utilise tooling from the Iron Man 2 Guardsman figure (torso and upper arms). Gotta say, I like the results a whole lot better than the freakishly distended/pin-headed MU version. Really, it's kind of hard to look at the MU version of a given character after you see the movie comic series version.

Yep. Captain Britain definitely uses the torso and upper arms from the Guardsman figure. Once I find a decent unmasked head for him he'll be my default Captain Britain. It's his most recent uniform, and Captain Britain and MI13 was a series that ended far before it's time. I love the Alan Davis costume design, but the MU figure just looks goofy, especially the tiny head. The darker colored Cap in the set is great, and Red Guardian is an excellent example of smart parts re-use (everything except his forearms and head are the wave two Heroic Age/Bucky Cap). Given how nice these figures look I'd like to see the molds get used more in MU as the proportions and musculature are a lot better than the standard MU bucks, and these are equally "blank".

I like the pic comparisons for Winter Soldier, but you got derailed by a rant and I don't think you mentioned why the MU version maintains a tie with the new one? If it's because of the hip construction, well, then, that alone might be enough for me too. But was there anything else? The entire sculpt of the movie line version looks better, if only it didn't have those stupid hips.

Yeah, hips or no, the movie figure sculpt especially the legs in comparison looks better on the movie version.

While the jet pack isn't much, for add on accessory we were going to get anyway it is one of the best in the line behind the plain Captain America shield and US Agent shield. The fact it folds up is just extra neat in my book.

Now to wait for Destroyer to show up at discount chains.

Yeah a good read.
I use the "Soldier" as Barroness' cloned bodyguard.
I'm thinking of gettin two more and doing head swaps to fill out his ranks.

Yeah sorry about the rant. Anyway I like the gun/holster combo on MU better, honestly I kind of prefer the shield uniform as well even though it's not comic accurate. There is also a strange wash on the Cap one that makes a green sort of look in certain lighting that I do not like in the least (looks like the fig is moldy or something). Cap version also has slightly rubbery knees that make them a bit more unstable than they look to be.

The hips are a non issue really, they balance out when you think about it. Sure MU is easier to deal with but the Cap line isn't as easy to pop off, so it kind of is a give and take IMO. Neither is better.

I've never had a MU hip or leg pop off without me taking it off, so I don't have the same frame of reference there. I've already gone about changing the hips on my Cap version, just because they really are useless as made.

I definitely agree with you about his knees being too soft though.

Back to the hips, the problem I see is if they want that particular type of waist, then they don't need the upper thigh swivel. The movement it allows is helpful if added to a MU waist, but is redundant on a Cap/movie style waist. the thigh swivel ends up making it tough to swivel the peg that is in the waist, which is my problem. On SW figs, when they have added a similarly articulated hip, note that it works because there is not a thigh swivel there to interfere with it. They DO have a knee swivel, given the different style knees they use, but that doesn't interfere with the hip at all, the way the Cap line's legs do.

Your lucky then, I've had it happen lots of times (Ghost Rider, Both Goblins, ect.) not a huge deal because it's easily fixed but annoying. On the marvel boards you hear about it all the time. But it generally happens because the T-Bar is pastic and doesn't hold as well as the metal ones (like on Joes)., Still it pops right back on so it's just an annoyance.

Believe it or not I found them at normal retail, so get on out there and find yours, if you want.

Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg the Dietitian are reviewed this time, enjoy.

Zed, I am not sure whether I love you or hate you

I love your reviews. The close up shots and descriptions of the figures quite often guide my figure buying. I have been known to read one of your reviews, get a spark of inspiration for a custom and head straight to Ebay (this is costing me money! I hate you! ), or decide that the figure is so craptacular that I will not bother with it. In this case, I was not really looking at the Thor movie line, but now I am going to get Fandral and Hogun for their heads. I will find a use for the bodies. After your description of Volstag, I think I will pass on him. I was looking at his head for a custom, but the body sounds useless.

Anyway, thanks for putting these figures up.

No prob, and don't hate me cause I'm buetiful LOL

On Volstagg, apparently he does have ball joint shoulders but mine are fused just like Hogun's ankles, It's weird to have two major QC issues like that in a row.
