Those schemes will do fine. Maybe not here, but they'll do alright. America isn't the only market in the world, and i assure you that 2-seat Flanker is almost certainly aimed at the Chinese market.
The FlaK 36 wasn't hard to find. Monkey Depot blew them out for less than 30 bucks for a couple of weeks, and it's still available for less than retail.
The MiG-21, B-25 and F-4 were all _____ talk by 21st, they didn't exist in any form, well the F-4 "prototype" was a model kit they had built at the last minute to block Admiral when they announced theirs. Blame 21st for not having one of those.
I agree on the Hind. Soviet desert camo.
Ah...didn't take other markets into consideration. My oversight.
Jeez...wish I'd known MD was clearing their Flaks out. Ah well, at least it did get released...no such luck on the King Tiger, though.
So they cock-blocked Admiral on the F-4. Wonder if that was because 21st was bitter about the whole Me-262 thing...

That still doesn't explain how they dropped the ball on the A-10. They had a working model built and ready to go and the plans just
*poof!* and they were like,

"What A-10?" I got the feeling that 21st just didn't like modern armor, jets, and helicopters. Maybe there is not enough money in it and that is why. I mean they'd have to pay for licensing and hit just the right market. Not too many people will drop $200 on a jet the size of a table.
I agree, pluv...21st had no love for modern-era (late Cold War) stuff. Sure, they had a handful of modern-era items...but I guess that's just not where they wanted to go with it all. On the flipside of that, I'm glad they did as much German stuff as they did...they fulfilled a lot of my kid dreams of having Joe-compatible German vehicles/equipment
I agree, too, with the point that there aren't many folks who will drop $200 apiece on modern 1:18 aircraft that won't fly. Most toy collectors today are cheap-asses waiting on stuff to hit clearance before they'll think about picking it up (of which, I admit my guilt

). But then, for the toymaker it's a matter of picking the RIGHT aircraft. I don't envy them that task. I think they've got some good ones to start with here, and some good repaints for the existing molds on the P-38 and F4U.
We already know there's an active market for WWII 1:18 plane collectors, who regularly drop $100+ on the old 21st planes. Plenty of product floating around out there...has been for almost ten years now. A quick check of Ebay for sold BBI F-16s and F-18s, though, would lead me to believe that $200 per plane is an acceptable market price for modern-era aircraft new product. Though it's just a small cross-section of the market there on Ebay, I don't think JSI will have any trouble moving product, based on that activity.
