Mine was purchased at the Guelph Wal-Mart, as was the set in Raptor's display case.

Price: $24.99 Canadian.

That's my main gripe about the movie.

Apart from Snake Eyes, Destro, and Baroness, the designs don't really scream GI Joe.

More like Sci Fi Original Picture starring Marlon Wayans.

Those MARS packs are so ridiculously overpriced, I wouldn't buy them even if I DID like the figures in the set, which I do not.

There is so much stuff coming down the line under the movie banner that there is no way to keep up with it all, especially at the prices things are running at these days....

Maybe parents wont buy a little box with similar figures in it, not at that price anyways.

I had mine for a while now and I'm pleased with them. The box makes a fun background to take pictures in. The figures themselves are nice too.

They'll probably move more once the other figures are in stores and the kids will be all hyped up after seeing the movie.... I know I will :)

In a way this is sort of one of the good things about the movie line. There are some things I'll pass on because they just lack the GI Joe or Cobra feel to them. Which means I don't have to break the bank attempting to get everything. On the other hand though there are some nice figures that really have a great GI Joe and Cobra vibe so there are plenty of cool things to look forward to that keeps me in the collecting hobby.

It really feels at least to me like the Joe team over at Hasbro did a much better job of keeping both old fans and new fans happy with the movie line than say the team working on Wolverine or Transformers.

The box itself might be what's bringing the price up. The cardboard diorama is pretty elaborate, especially with the three dimensional MARS steel door. Many of us just toss this stuff in the recycle bin, but Raptor set up a cool mini dio using the packaging from this box.

It may be elaborate, but its still just cardboard, not enough justification for the hike sorry.

Yeah and I like plenty of other things, what exactly are you trying to imply sir?

Edit: It just occured to me how assinine the "hate" statement is when you consider all I said was it was overpriced, nothing about love or hate in the statement. Is this the level that we have delved into, that even an observation about overpriceing is denounced? Just Wow.

Maybe a month before the Transformers movie was released, the new toys hit Fred Meyer's shelves first. All the toys sat at the Fred Meyer in Cornelius for weeks (kids are the major purchasers at that FM) until the movie came out, then everything was gone in a matter of days. Once the movie hits, stuff will fly (or go on clearance).

I agree with this. The TF stuff didn't really sell all that well until the day the movie came out. After that, it took me weeks to find Ironhide. Same with the Iron Man stuff. No one bought this stuff and then for a while, there was nothing but empty shelves. Though, the opposite can be said for the Hulk and Dark Knight toys. They didn't sell...and then...they continued to not sell. I think that the Joe movie will help this stuff sell though.

I also agree that $30 for this set is crazy. I wanted one really badly when the images first showed up, but man, that's a lot to pay. I'm sure the packaging has something to do with it because I remember something that came out during te JvC days that it was the most expensive part to produce, but that's still enough money to make a one figure difference if you bought them on single cards, which is ridiculous.

On the set itself: expect these to sit even after the movie comes out (if it's a hit). $30 is too much for three figures.

I agree. Its kinda the M.O.T.H.. arguement all over again.
I can see 7 or 8 bucks per figure, but an additional 6-7 bucks for packaging?

I think this is definetly a "collector" type targeting, rathar than "kid friendly" targeting. I dont see in any way parents trying to pay 30 bucks for three figures for their children.

Hopefully, the pricing is in-line with what Target would do with Star Wars figures when the movies were coming out - jack up the price initially, then do the price-cut game after a week or so. Get some extra bucks out of the first buyers.
