BURRRRNN!

I don't get it

DayOne, the 2007 Gi Joe Collector's Club Convention exclusive set was based upon a storyline that was centered around two recolored versions (a blue and an od green) of the Mauler tank (http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/85/mauler/) that the Collectors Club was going to make. The set is even called "Tanks for The Memories." They were not ready in time for the convention, but the club took "orders" for them, at about $80.00 apiece, and gave those who ordered them the driver figures that were supposed to have been included with them. Time went by, and time went by, and still no tanks. Finally, months later, the club had to admit that the toys weren't going to be made because the molds had been broken, and had to refund those that had ordered them minus about $20.00 apiece for the driver figures. Many, many people were quite upset about this, saying that the club shouldn't sell product they haven't actually got without saying so up front. Others didn't want to pay for the figures, saying that they didn't care about them, they had just wanted the tanks. It's still a touchy subject.

WAIT WOW
how was that able to happen ?
GI JOE collectors club is a legit business right ? isn't that by HASBRO ?
how hard is a mold to come by ?
I was at one point interested in a line of figures by some guys called the Four Horseman , but something happened to their molds and I got tired of checking their site for info , so I went back to wrestling figures , I dont think they were taking preorders though

Hate to sound like an idiot, but what kind of batteries does the mobat use?
Also, try the RHINO or the ROCC. Those kick all kinds of ass.

No they are NOT a part of Hasbro. The same club also has the Power Rangers who are not Hasbro. Just look at http://www.mastercollector.com/ . If they were part of Hasbro they'd have nothing to do with Hot Wheels, Power Rangers to name a few.

They are affilated with Hasbro and use hasbro's original molds. They also use the same manufacting plant as Hasbro uses. The mauler molds where missing the boggy wheel molds so new ones where made causing the delay, then when the stared making the Maulers, the 21 year old mold for the turret broke. so it was just bad luck. For '08 con free vehical, Hasbro needed the original choice so the Cobra Rage was chosen but the wheels' mold was missing so not to repeat the Mauler incident, it was scraped

if any one knows what the orginal '08 "freebie" was suppost to be I would like to know

Steeler and the MOBAT are my fondest memories of Joe Christmases past. I already know that the ARAH Steeler that I picture from my childhood memories simply doesn't look as cool today as I thought he did back then (though is still my favorite from the era), and I knew even as a kid that the MOBAT had its limitations. But this post makes me rethink trying to get one today. I totally don't want to kill that memory. Though my boy might like the motorized part. For some reason I didn't realize that the new ones were still motorized.

If you are looking for an idea, combine the MOBAT and Mauler:

Agreed. I've never complained about the MOBAT because there's a certain classic-nostalgia thing with it at this point, and I'm pleased to have the latest incarnation. I would tend to agree, though, that the Mauler is a little more impressive, and if it's SIZE you want, you can't go wrong with either version of the Grizzly. The Mauler-based Equalizer from Slaughter's Marauders is an impressive piece of work, as well.

IT MOVES IT MOVES

This reminded me of something that happened when I purchased the radio-controlled Crossfire back in 1987. One afternoon, while I was minding my own business and NOWHERE NEAR the Crossfire OR its controller, it decided to suddenly start up and take off across the room. Scared the heck out of me. Closest thing to a logical explanation I got was that something operating on the same radio frequency as the Crossfire happened to be nearby at that particular moment.

I still pulled the batteries... 8-O

Reminds me of the demon furby from my college days, but taking the batteries out and burning it took care of it.

I have two mobats, somehow!
