In my little toxic universe the prospect of Star Trek is at the minimum a great way to expand the existing sphere, in other words I am hopefull that these will look decent.

I do hope for some more figs from other Trek Eras as well though.

Well, the trailer for this movie pretty much blew me out of my socks last night, so -- even though I have no interest in collecting a full-on toyline -- I might be tempted to buy a Kirk and Spock for my desk at work. And if the playsets make good dio fodder, so much the better.

I admit, the Nicloas Meyer uniforms were the best look.

Although I am looking forward to these,. the articulation will make or break the line.

I'll get these, I don't care what they look like. And I have been wanting a bridge all of my life ... this might be my chance.

Has Playmates done a proper 18th line before?

As much as the trailer and buzz about the new flick is failing to light my phaser the least bit; I'll prolly grab a fistful of these figs (assuming theyre articulation-wise worth it) because they can easily just be all-new characters if they look too much like the new actors. That's one of the things I wished they'd do more of in Trek, show stuff happening to other ships besides getting blowed up real good just in time for the Enterprise to show up and pick up the plot thread.

And yeah, I figure Trek mythology fits nicely into my Asunderverse if I shove it all back by about 7 centuries to coincide with the Legion of Superheroes timeframe. Could Chameleon Boy be one of Odo's people a century before he comes along?

Yeah, add me to the list of those completely underwhelmed by the new movie, but I'll definitely give the toys a look....................hmm,how about the bridge crew of U.S.S. Montana ?

AV,that's a cool idea,Chameleon Boy could be one of those "scouts" the Founders sent into other quadrants.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'd guess he just never learns of his Founder heritage, to keep the overall continuity maintained, tho.

Altho it throws all kinds of wrenches into the machinery when thinking about how they handled Charlie X and Gary Mitchell. Perhaps those incidents happened prior to the Legion being founded? Yeah, the Legion would prolly best work if they come out around the time of the first movie. Perhaps three teens see V'ger coming to Earth and join forces to fight the satellites until the rug is pulled out from under them by Decker merging with Ilia/V'ger.

/Sounds like a plan!

These 3 3/4-inch tall figures come individually packaged in a case of 10 pieces (subject to change):
1x Kirk in Enterprise outfit
1x Sulu in Enterprise outfit
1x Original Spock
1x Uhura in Enterprise outfit
1x Pike in Enterprise outfit
1x Nero
1x Spock in Enterprise outfit
1x Scotty in Enterprise outfit
1x McCoy in cadet outfit
1x Chekov in cadet outfit

I'm wondering why McCoy and Chekov are in cadet outfits, especially since McCoy's like 10 years older than everyone else's average (yes, I know Vulcans live like twice human standard, ignore that and go with me on this, okay?), so his cadet years would/should be well behind him.

A thought's that's *just now* occurred to me about all this and my overall displeasure so far is that since this is a time travel epic - who says the Enterprise we've seen is actually the 1701? For all we know, this could be the 1701-F, after the TNG movie ship. Spock has to have some way to get back in time; and maybe he's picking these characters from different points in time to assemble the 'best possible' crew for whatever the crisis Nero's presenting is.

/probably not.
//still preparing myself for this to be an insulting crapfest.

From my understanding, this movie is a (partial) reboot. In this Trekverse, the original crew of the Enterprise are all roughly the same age.

If they decide to do any figures from any of the REAL Star Treks, instead of this upcoming piece of garbage, I'll be interested. Until then, it's just stuff stinking up the toy aisles and taking up space that could be put to better use -- like Pokemon or something... :-/

Amen to that...except for the Pokemon part ;)

Maybe it's just a Kobayashi Maru scenario at...you know...Starfleet Academy?

BBTS is listing ten 3 3/34, ten 6 inch, four 12 inch figures, a bridge, a transporter, a phaser, communicator, tricorder, and the Enterprise.

I hope that Playmates have brought their articulation levels into the 21st century. The last few years they had the trek license they began to back-slide. I would pick up some 3 3/4 figures and simply switch out their heads for some shrunken AA classic trek heads. Then I would have my 3 3/4 Trek Classic Crew. No way am I keeping any of these actors on there.

However is Playmates goes with their same lack of effort approach as they do with most of their lines then I'll pass on the figure due to soft detail, horrible articulation and bad paint aps.
