I thought about this topic at work.

And decided to really look at my collection. There's already a few I intended to get rid off but I was thinking about my other 25th Joes for example that Cobra Trooper from the Cobra Legions Back. I always display him in the back of all the other Cobra Troopers. I must not want him if I never give him a place on honor in the front. So why am I keeping him?

I can agree with you completely on one point: It is maddening to me to buy a multi figure pack to get 1 or 2 figures, then the ones I wanted come out on single cards later. I also really get frustrated by having to buy comic packs to get certain figures, because I absolutely despise the comic pack coloring, and always have, and always will. I really wish that Hasbro would just commit just a tiny bit more to the collecting fanbase, and do more real troop building packs. The greenshirts pack bugs me, because I just don't need any more Fireflys. The chain of command packs, or whatever their called, bug me because I don't need any more cobra commanders, or dukes, or hawks. The night watch pack was cool, albeit a repaint collection, and I guess the CG pack would be cool, If I didn't have my fill of CG's already.

I tend to agree with Narceron. Buy what you want. If I were collecting the 25th Joes, I'd be going nuts right about now -- too many versions of the same characters, some of them coming out in multiple sets. The line has undergone a population explosion, but where does one draw the line other than at one's bank account?

This would be my recommendation. Keep what you want. Find the coolest and/or your personal favorite(s) of any character that's already had half a dozen versions. Don't worry about the rest. If there's a SET of figures out there where the majority of the figures interest you, sell off the ones you want. Your discards are someone else's interest. It WILL get a good home.

My favorite case in point goes back a few years when I rounded up the Crimson Command Copter -- alas, at the full price of $30. I wasn't really interested in the newsculpt Tomax & Xamot that came with the copter, so I eBayed them. Got $40 for the two figures. I call that a free copter and a bit of grocery money, and two figures that I wasn't interested in got a new home with someone that DID want them.

I cannot think of a single action figure line on the market today that I am a completist with. I buy what I want, and I don't worry about the rest. Might be time for you to try that tactic, as well.

I would agree with the majority here. Just don't buy the ones you don't want. i haven't bought black storm shadow or a lot of the comic packs.
