It's gonna be a good announcement. Unless people just want to hate it just to hate it, I think the announcement will be pretty cool. Yeah the spray paint thing was something else... but this announcement is a good one. I just hope people will get in there and help start hitting stretch goals. It needs to reach other markets though cause the GIJoe community only supports so far before you hit the "wait for Ross" crowd. There won't be no Ross in this case... all or nothing when it comes to kickstarter.

I hope the announcement brings in more support. I have pledged all that I could without putting myself in a bind. I knew going in how much I could afford and pledged it all on day 1. I really want to see everything get unlocked. I hope to see the numbers going up.

Hopefully everybody likes the announcement. It's a very ambitious stretch goal, but obviously necessary for the tooling. These figures will pave the way for more female figures in the next wave/kickstarter. More gold outfits as well in the next one. Just gotta get that word stretched out there beyond just the usual community to draw more people! They're good figures and it'll be a nice addition to someone's collection.

I very much like the design! But having them all be blonde - assuming this is the whole team - looks like whoever does the hiring has a type he selects for and should be drawn up on discriminatory EEOC hiring charges, lol.

According to the bio in the picture, they are all sisters and all related to the original Goldie.

So I assume that the missing sister will eventually be available in a Riot redeco...

Be nice if these come through. I bought a Corps Beast Bomber to use with the New Eagle Force figs and a team of pilots would rule!

The only figures I'd want to get are the Modern Harley and the Goldie Hawks.

Wonder which of those three is the one that goes missing? Best guess is Rowdy, since she looks the type that'll fit in with a set of bad guys... what with the hair style, (assumed) attitude and all, yeah?

Never had any of the EF figs as a wee tyke, so these aren't such a nostalgia trip for me - though I totally agree with others about the trolling be a bit of a let down. Why deal with an upstart company when they pull something that childish? I like the suit design for the gals, and some of the other characters are nifty looking, but my money went to Marauder for their females... and am still patiently waiting for the delivery.

Really, really glad this got funded. I get the criticism that these figures bear little resemblance to the original line, but I like the updated designs and have zero interest in people running around in gold uniforms, so I suppose I'm the target market for this one. For me, it's less about the property than it is about these figures being exactly the sort of thing I want to see from a toyline in 2016: well-sculpted, well-articulated figures with an interesting, unique look to them. I have some nostalgia for the originals, but they feel like more of a fun little curiosity to me than a classic toyline that demands a faithful update. So while I get why people who actually had an attachment to the old figures would be less enthused, I'm happy they went this route.

I'm curious about the spray-paint thing (and the adverse reaction to it), though: I saw it less as a prickly response to criticism than a friendly wink at the fact that they were moving away from the most recognizable (but also the goofiest) aspect of the original line. Was it the price of it that rubbed people the wrong way, or is there some history with the guy behind this project that I don't know about?

The project has very few of the gold versions of characters. Initially one of the gold versions was an all-in exclusive, which made it seem to me that even though they were not really going for the retro look, they were attempting to force some people to buy the all in just to get the gold figure. After a lot of complaining from the backer base about that, they made the gold figure available as an add on rather than an exclusive with the all in. That was good and made people happy, then they put up that thing about the paint which came off to some as a comment saying, hey if you really want just gold figures, go paint them yourself.

For me, the gold figures were unique and interesting enough to buy. The rest of the modern line is too similar to figures and parts that I can get for $6 a figure from hasbro. But I'm mainly a customizer for 4 inch figures, so I have a different outlook than a figure collector I guess. If they had a package with all the gold versions initially, I would have gone for that.

that pretty much sums it up. and the gold spray paint joke came very quickly after announcing the gold Cat was no longer an all in exclusive.

i personally didnt have the eagle force as a kid, simply because they were in the wrong scale. so im not overly obsessed with them being gold, but simply being regular old green army men to me is very boring. i want something that stands out a little more from the tons of joes, the marauder figures, all the BBI and 21st century figures. if they are just making normal green/brown military figures they dont really need the eagle force name. and if they use the eagle force name then you expect something a little different from green.

but really thats all fine, they can do whatever they want with their license, just dont be smart ass to people for no reason.

Gotcha; I hadn't noticed the sequence of those events, but I can see how that came off as a shot at the folks clamoring for the gold figures. Thanks for the info; I had been wondering about that for a while now.

I think newwavepop kind of nailed it too. On the one hand, any old brand would arguably work fine for the figures they are making, and I think most of the people who are in on this support it for that reason.

But using Eagle Force does kind of imply something more specific to that. And despite my spray painting going on in critiques right now, I'd have supported something that felt more like Eagle Force even if not in literal gold outfits.

But then the gold Captain Eagle looked pretty great, and I was thinking, hell maybe I'll play along....until I realized it would be paying too much for too little. Then the poorly played paint joke, so I took them up on it and decided to make my own.

But again, like Dusty I'm coming from this 95% as customizer. And the cost for the fodder which isn't that distinct doesn't do it for me without the nostalgia getting dragged along with.
