I would point to the sales difference between loose Club Dial Tones and carded Dial Tones as a counterpoint. They're doing crazy numbers either way, but $120 range for loose vs $400-500 for carded figures seems to indicate that, despite the small sampling at JoeCon, many people do want the cards.

The problem with that example is that there is probably a 3-1 ratio of loose to carded figures, and I don't think the Club would make a run of that proportion on a regular release since the cost of making the art is probably prohibitive for a smaller run.

I don't think it's that skewed. There were the 600 carded at the Con, and then all the ones that were purchased thru the Club were carded ones as well. Only the membership figure was the loose version, and I would guess the final ratio was closer to 50-50. In any case, I suspect the total numbers of sub figures will be lower than the total numbers of Dial Tones, probably closer to the actual number of carded Dial Tones.

2200 Dial Tone figures were produced. of that 600 were carded. 1596 were mailed out to subscribing numbers. People who preordered an extra loose Dial Tone were offered the option to upgrade to a Carded Dial Tone for an additional $5, or to cancel their preorder.

Those were the numbers as given by the Club, during the Club Roundtable. As always, I think it's safe to believe a 10% over-run is in existence...just so there are items available if there are QC issues, and for later Give-Awaya and prizes

Ok I'll take loose subscription figures - $5 x 13 ≈ $65 less than what it will be

Yes, I believe those are the numbers the Club gave out at the Con. They also said they went back and got more for the pre-orders, which also ended up being carded. That is in addition to the 600 they had at the Con.

The way I understood it, There weren't all 600 Carded Dial Tone figures at the Con. They held back whatever X number of carded Dial Tones they knew were needed to satisfy pre-orders.

If they'd have been able to go back and make another Run of Dial Tone, The Club would still have them available, Dial Tone's Price wouldn't be spiking the market, and Speculator interest in the Subscription Figures wouldn't be nearly as high as it is.

I recall that that's exactly what Brian said at the Con Nova. Some carded Dial-Tones were held back in Texas, but only 600 carded figures were produced total. There was no additional run of Dial-Tones.

Additional runs just don't happen these days. They are either planned for another wave or they aren't. The Club has said all along they are trying to find the magic number of making enough without making too much. They can't go back to the well.

They *can* - but the minimum run to make it at all cost effective is 500.

So *if* they go back - they need to run 500 or more, which in 99.9% of the cases would be overproducing when you add the qty to the initial run.

There is no, can be no, magic number. Demand will be different depending on the figure selected, and how awesome or crappy the make it.

Okay, that's the only part I wasn't really 100% clear on, whether they held some back or not out of those 600.

We've seen pretty much everything about this line.
Art, the shipping box, various close ups, but will we ever know the price before the end of the year?

I can't wait to see the pictures of the post office from which they'll ship the figures.
