I was going through some files yesterday, and came across three photographs of an unreleased G.I. Joe vehicle. I have no idea where these photos came from. I do not -- unfortunately -- own this vehicle, which looks to be very close to production level. Nor do the photos have dates printed on them. But, I thought I could at least scan the photos and share them in here. I'm not entirely sure what this vehicle would've been, but it definitely has a Star Brigade look to it. A shame we never got it.

I've seen that in a really old tomarts, but it was not in color. It was all grey... I think. I haven't seen it since.

I suppose it's possible that the pictures appeared on yojoe, but these were actual photographs that I scanned these images from. I really have no idea where I got them.

Bucky, I think I know the image you mean. Is it this one? This came from the set of 30th Anniversary trading cards produced in 1994, which included a number of images of unproduced vehicles. Notice that while the vehicle is very similar, it is indeed all gray, giving it a somewhat more "prototype" look to it. But also notice that the cockpit section is distinctly shorter than the version in the photographs that I posted. The back section of the vehicle and the engines and such are essentially identical, but definitely not the cockpit. The mystery just got more mysterious.

As far as I can determine, this vehicle has no name. None is mentioned on the card. It is only described as a "Cobra fast attack spacecraft".

I notice the handle/handhold in the back. I wonder if it had some sort of action/sound/attack feature.

Probably. The trading card indicated that it was developed in 1992, and they were doing a lot of that sort of thing then.

I just wonder which came first -- long cockpit or short cockpit?

I'd have to assume short came first since the long ship looks production-ready and therefore a finalized design.

I'm inclined to agree, and yet the flip side of that coin is, if the "cost studies" came back and said that the only way the ship could be affordably made would be to make it smaller somehow...

It's a puzzle.

And agreed, if this had come out, I'd've gladly bought it.

I want both of those.
