Dunno if this was ever discussed (I searched but found nothing) but an artist named Mike Thompson posted some headshot artwork he did for Hasbro's Pursuit of Cobra line.

But aside from the Nano-BAT, I don't think anything about these figures were seen, not even in Hasbro's concept cases at Joecon!
Zap, Budo and a labcoated Dr. Mindbender:

Man. I'm shocked we didn't at least get the Mindbender....

Very interesting. I'm surprised we never got a ROC/POC Mindbender of some sort...

I saw these somehow before, but no idea where. They're very cool. The Budo/Mindbender pack woulda rocked, if only for hopefully getting a sweet Budo.

Budo looks more like the Hard Master.
Probably would sport HM's bandana and the temple guardian body.

I'm surprised too. I mean this is a labcoated Mindbender with the classic monocled head. It's on many a fanboy's dream wishlist. I'd rather that have shelfwarmed than Arctic Destro. ;)

I don't think these are for multipacks. The artist was just posting two pieces at a time.
I also don't think that Budo is particularly special. Tried the "Temple Guardian" body type and found it depressingly lacking in military-ness. Something built around Kick Attack Storm Shadow's nicer samurai chest armor, but also integrating SOME military elements, would be more to my liking.

Well it's not like POC was lacking in recycled tooling. But that Hard Master head is so tiny I think if he'd used the headband, then probably the whole head too.

Really dig the Zap look more than Budo. The uniform is simplistic but modern and it's pretty cool that he has the blast shield on the helmet.

I would have picked these up had they been made. Wouldn't be surprised to see Budo and Mindbender in the FSS if these progressed past the art stage.

Oh, so they were for 2-packs. Neat.

God, I hope Mindbender isn't done in the FSS. Labcoatbender is a figure worthy of regular retail release.

I like that you can tell he uses his own face as a model.

I mean we kind of figured Budo was planned based on the gear that came with training Snake Eyes and samurai Storm Shadow. At the con JoeDeclassified showed a preproduction Budo figure complete with head band.

Zap came in the 7 pack and we knew Hasbro had plans for him since the 25th line.

Nano Bat got its place in the FSS.

Of all of them that Dr. Mindbender is the only one we didn't know was planned. But it took all of two seconds for customizers to put that coat on MB figure so I don't find it super shocking either.

And if you guys aren't following Mike Thompson on twitter, you are seriously missing out. If you have liked any of the RoC/PoC card art, chances are it was him.

Sounds cool. Anyone share pics of that?

Doesn't really look like the Cobra Island Zap figure, though. It sports a button-up shirt and the shielded helmet from the PIT Commando.

I don't think it has been shown online yet but it will be eventually I'm sure.

Well I look forward to seeing pictures of Budo when they show up.

And PIT Commando with Zap's head or not, I'd have still bought it. Even with the Nano-BAT.

That wasn't Budo that was a weird first shot/mock up of Temple Guardian Snake-Eyes.
Glumby has pics of his here:

Oh snap, I saw the head band and just assumed that was a new head. Stupid yellow plastic. Still, my
Point that it isn't a crazy leap to think Budo was coming at some point.
