I wouldn't normally point this out but there's pics of some of the Venezuelan figures up for auction as a group with filecards and apparently super hard to find accessories. Might be the only time some of us get to see them as complete or in such good condition. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-b ... -sale.html

Edit: Corrected per Pete.

Those are Venezuelan versions. They are even harder to find compared to the Argentinean ones. These will not be cheap as I have dealt with this seller before.

This quote really bugs me

All of three were sold by me, the first two with the invaluable help of Ron Conner, to three of the most important and reputable collectors in the GIJoe community

Why's that?

I don't consider myself as being "important" in the collecting community.

Foreign figure and vehicle contributer to some indexing Joe sites. Check. One of the founding members of the JoeCanuck staff and Canadian Convention Joe Convention. Check. Long standing and well respected member of the community. Check.

Other than that, I agree, you aren't that important. :-D

Five years ago when I was actively collecting, I would have snapped this up without hesitating. But now that I no longer collect, I balk at the thought of putting down 10K (potential selling value) for this.

I feel that maybe customizing has gotten me somewhat jaded. When I look at those figures, I just see a repainted white Snake Eyes with a chrome head along with a bunch of other re-paints. I immediately start breaking down each figure's parts list and really can't appreciate the set for its foreign scarcity and collecting value.

I have to disagree with the seller on one point. For me, the Pimp Daddy Destro is more real and has a lasting imprint in my mind than this set. I actually saw the PDD 3-pack at the TRU in Yonkers and walked by it thinking "That's stupid. They made Destro look like a pimp." When I got into collecting Joes a few years back, I nearly kicked myself for not buying it. LOL.

Unfortunately, I didn't have exposure to international items when I was growing up so I don't have the nostalgia factor for this set.

I agree with some of the potential buyers. Don't trust any postal service for this. Fly down and pick it up in person.

I wish the dealer well and I hope that the sale helps to right his financial issues.

I would expect it to go higher than 10. Probably closer to 20 by the time the dust settles.

I;m sure these really are worth a lot. Personally, I won't even spend 10K on a car so somehow spending 10K on a few action figures would be well out of my abilities.

I do agree on not relying on any sort of mail carrier. That kind of money demands an in-person transaction and if you have the funds to blow 10K on a few toys and not feel any financial hurt then a plane ticket is probably within your means.

I took another look at it and you are definitely right. Closer to 20.

I hope it gets the money..but i just can't fathom spending that much on any set of Joes no matter how rare they are. It's neat though to see them

This is where I look and say, "I can build him, I have the parts, and the technology."

Yes, that is a reference...

10k for a couple of toys?

No wonder people look at toy collectors as a bunch of crazy people...

This is nothing. There's an old MOTU 2-pack that people offer 10K to obtain and the 2 figures in it weren't even exclusive or rare. It's just that specific 2-pack that's rare. Yep, they're offering 10K for cardboard and some figures that can be had for much less.

I don't know how much they'll go for. I know the players going for them have really deep pockets though. And that is just from the people actually posting.

Even if I had the money and could use it for them, it would be my luck that I'd pick up the white Mortal and his o-ring would crumble apart, he'd fall to the floor, break both of his thumbs and snap his crotch on contact, right before I accidentally kick his chromed head into the cement wall, shattering it into a thousand pieces. I'm sure in a fit of anger I'd take out my frustration on his perfectly intact Cobra symbol and lose all of their accessories in 5 minutes.
