Finally!! An Aliens M577 APC that is compatible with Joe scale figures! I believe close to 1/20 scale. It's a kit so need model building skills. But this is pretty decent kit and nothing else out there like it that comes close.

The kit is produced by Ray Perez of "Galactic Resin". rayp22@gmail.com. I think he offers a build service. Has video instruction (the basic build is not difficult). Contact him he will answer any questions.

I purchased couple of these kits. I am impressed with quality of material and detailing. The hull is rotocast. Will allow me to do interior modifications for personnel. I'm going to start on these soon. One I'm modifying for my verse (mounting different weapons).

Yes, been looking for these for quite some time. I'm considering 2 more to modify. I always buy 2 or more to do different versions.

The interior issue: its rotocast so interior is hollow. With some work you can place seating in the interior at a min. I may cut bottom section out so can do more interior work. Also, the side door on driver side I am thinking of cutting out the opening so door will open.

Currently waiting on a 1/18ish StarShip Troopers Dropship. It's commission build but hoping he will do a kit of the Dropship. If there are any interests he may be more willing to do a kit for it.

I like the way JFak did his.. this is crap compared to his.. can't open this one to play with the figures inside... $300 for a huge model basically. Not going to pay $300 then have to customize it to work with figures..

He's not doing the Starship Troopers Dropship (this is the ship with troop pod). Company in Canada is doing this build. He would do the Aliens Dropship but I wanted the troop transport.

There is a builder doing an Aliens Dropship but it's 1/32. Going to modify cockpit to seat 1 to 2 figs (may fit only 1). The cargo bay opens on this version. The Aliens Dropship -even at 1/32- is 36" long. Good size model.

I have to say, as much as I appreciate that people like the APC I made, I do not like the disrespect of calling another custom "crap". And in this case it certainly is not. It's actually cleaner than mine. A great looking custom, IMO. As for the interior- that can be added.

It's not "crap" but to some it could seem foolish to spend $300 on it.

That may come from factors such as lack of familiarity with how much a 1:18 large scale custom model could cost, question of perception of value, or one's own level of anal-retentiveness about the quality and accuracy of 1:18 scale movie models.

The clean quality of it is impressive. I agree that for the cost, I'd want something a little closer to perfect. I also agree that I'd prefer to buy a repro of John's because of the playset aspect of it. But the bottom line is John's isn't available, and there's no place else to get anything quite like this as of yet (though I've not researched it a ton). I also suspect the cost of making these kits is fairly extensive.

so it's totally not for everyone, but I can't fault those who go for it.

John - I'm not sure that they were literally calling this kit crap though. I think it's more a testament to how high you set the bar.

I could understand the cost as this isn't a manufacturer casting and selling this. Even roto-cast isn't cheap for an individual. There's isn't any choices out there for this vehicle though. I've got details instructions for building a paper model version. That can be used to change things over an use plastic instead. Just cut pieces free and glue where folds are. Even still, it would be a lot of time and several sheets of styrene or whatever other plastic you want to use. That's about the only other option I would know. The paper model stuff is all over the net.
