These look very interesting. Looks like there will be a range of body types including female coming out.

Stikfas taken to the next level. These are going to be perfect for superhero customs.

10 bucks is a little steep for a blank figure, but it still is very cool.

Maybe, but how many of us throw a lot more than that at fodder just to make a custom?

Ugh. Maybe in a year or so when the smooth out some of the wrinkles... That Alpha male has got some seriously wonky proportions. I definately applaud the concept though, and would love for them to succeed enough to smooth those wrinkles out, because this could be the next great thing.

Great idea...not so great execution....

The figure is just a bit too stylized for me to see it working....and then you're dealing with the price.

I'll look forward to seeing what else them come up with

While I applaud the concept and serious attempt to make a fully customizable base figure, I can't help but wonder what the point of it is.

Technically, ANY figure with the desired base articulation is a blank. You don't need a literally "blank" featureless figure to get that effect, because ultimatiely, you're building up over the original surface no matter what the base is. There are plenty of figures available that are almost as "blank" and much much less expensive (like a lot of the 25th anniversary stuff now at online clearance - or older era Joes). So unless they can bring the price point down, it will always be cheaper and more practical to buy mass market product that fits your needs - especially if you buy fodder from clearance. Now with mass market retail price at $7.99-$8.99 average, the price on these isn't too bad, but with accessories and good head sculpts factored in, they're still not really competitve.

Now, if these blanks had a basic, human, flesh toned musculature, with excellent and realistic articulation, that might make them more desirable. Not overarticulated like Marvel Legends or Showdown, but a good balance of form and function.

For me, the hardest base to find is a realistic flesh colored nude figure at 1/18 scale. There are some which come close, but they always fudge it up with funky proportions, weird articulation, strange skin tone, or bad/stylized sculpting. For example, look at the 25th Gung Ho chest and arms. Those are a great "blank," but totally fail at real musculature in just about every way. Its reuses may be colored better, but still look ridiculous as actual muscles. Or Microman - they did some great work as potential base bodies - essentially what this company is doing - but they have no realistic detail or anatomical shape. You slap gear and a "realistic" head on one of those, and it looks like some kind of puppet wearing gear, not a small scale replica. You had to do a lot of work to turn that base into a realistic end piece, same as these.

If this company went in an anatomical direction as a base model, (with various body shapes and types - not just ridiculous comic book style proportions) I think it would be a lot more useful to customizers. Then it would truly be something different on the market, and still fulfill the base idea as a blank. Imagine being able to "dress" the blank the way you would a 1/6th scale figure, adding armor clothes and gear as you desire. You could sculpt over it if you wanted, but you wouldn't have to find ways to hide the stylized featureless underbody.

Plenty of 1/6th scale companies are in on that angle, but I don't think anyone's tried it at 1/18th.

It's already been said, but: UGH! What a butt-ass ugly figure. The proportions are all off and he's waif-waisted as all heck. And $10 for a blank figure is crazy. You could choose just about any retail figure as a base for less money and a heck of a lot less work trying to make it look like a human being instead of a cartoon.

It's a great concept, but the execution needs some serious work. Some of the upcoming bodies shown look somewhat better, so there is hope, but they really should have chosen a better figure to do first.

If future figures are better I'm all over the concept and I don't even mind the price. But I expect a better product for that much cash.

I think a lot of people dig figures that are proportioned like that, in a cartoony kind of way. I think they are pretty cool looking. Like Urbach though, I would rather make my own blank figure.

Wonderful idea. Poor execution. Anyone of us could get a Union Jack at TRU and have a better sculpted blank base body for cheaper.

nice and interesting concept, the customs made from this figure are awesome. The figure itself is cool, a little different looking but cool non the less. 10 buck a figure, is not totally bad, but a figure made for customizing packaged and carded?

I can see some of the gripes about why pay 10 dollars when i can get a Union Jack figure for 8. Which is totally legit. But i see these more as a collectors items. especially if they come carded I am unsure if the folks making these had them mass produced or if they are hand casting them.
The idea is noble the fig tho not completely perfect is done well. I will be getting one or two just to see how they are built. But a hat tipping to these folks for doing it. I know they had to put a lot of work into these.

I agree with Kronin. Plus every picture of Union Jack I have seen has him with bandy legs.

Nice to see someone doing this kind of thing, especially since Tomy fumbled the ball on Microman. I want some of these, and hopefully a few of the female figures.

I quite like it. Though it looks as if they don't ship to England. :-( (Can anyone help me out? :-D )

You know what would be cool? Blank fat bodies. ;-)
