Not too shabby. I still maintain that I would only be interested in a Baroness or Dr Mindbender at this pricepoint, but they sure do make some nice dolls...

Compared with CC and SE, there's a lot less "going on" here. Very conservative figure... almost no innovation... just a classic Trooper and his gear.

That said, he doesn't look bad, he just isnt $100 worth of figure, IMO. And with a line as impractical to army build as this, I've got no problem passing on this one. Baroness, Scarlett, and Lady Jaye better get on the production schedule soon. I wanna see the ladies!

Of the three shown so far, this is the first one to actually catch my attention for a minute or two. Still not interested at that pricepoint, though.

I made a better custom one years ago for far less than the asking price here. Used the old Hasbro Cobra uniform and added 21st Century and Dragon gear and weapons - including the more accurate Dragonov rifle.

These are neat to look at, but I could buy the next two wave of single carded figures for less. I don't really consider myself a "casual collector," but I'm nowhere near a completist either...but I'm still just not sure who the market is on these. Now, if they ever made a Firefly, I'd probably change my tune real quick, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I gotta agree with most of the posts I've seen, nice, but not WOW!. A really decent copy of this could be cobbled together very easliy with offerings from Harsbro, 21st, Dragon, etc..

Show me a Viper, and I might get excited.

Just too expensive for a domestic collector's figure. Compare the price between these and their Star Wars figures.

This is the line that will put me in the poorhouse. I've got Snakes and CC preordered through my comic shop and well you can't have CC without a Trooper to boss around so... :-/

All of their figures have been way too expensive so far for what we are getting. We're in a recession for crying out loud you think that they would wake up and want to be able to sell more of these things by lowering the price to something that more people can afford. I'm out though.

That's just it though, even at the higher than average prices they do sell. Snake-eyes and Cobra Commander are both sold out of preorders. The Trooper will sell out as well. So even though Joe Joe-collector on the street might not be able to afford them, somebody else can and is perfectly willing to plunk down the money for these.

While I agree they are a bit pricey, especially compared to the others they offer like the Star Wars figures, I do think there is a market for them. It's just a different market from most of us.

Actually I very much can afford them, its the fact that A its not a product of that high of calabre to warrent the price tag and B no toy should cost that much (with rare exceptions for huge playsets ect).

Sideshow seems to know their market pretty well. Everything sells out because they make some nice product, and they charge a lot because they don't make too many. I don't know the numbers, but it seems like they sell out on pretty much everything - based on my observation anyway.

From what I've seen of the Star Wars and a few other 12" figures, their editions run from 1,000 - 3,000 on average with their exclusives being on the lower end from the standard editions.

I do agree they make nice product. The SSC Clone Armor Obi-Wan is very nice. If this is any indication of their quality (and I think it is) then I don't have any problem dropping $100 on a good quality 12" Joe figure.

I'm in the minority, but I like what I've seen so far from Sideshow.

Their figures are very much, "boutique" specialty figures with a very small market in mind. Sideshow has a very loyal customer base who buy figures not because they are Star Wars or G.I.Joe or whatever license; they buy because the product is Sideshow.

That being said, it is almost assured that every single one of these figures will sell out in pre-order (as they have with Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander) and I believe that this trooper will be no different.

But my opinion is that these are superior to any 12-inch figure we have seen from Hasbro-proper since Hall of Fame. When Hasbro started using plastic molded body parts in place of real soft-goods clothing (2002?), I immediately swore off ever buying another 12-inch Joe, and I maintain that opinion to this day. I saw Hasbro take short-cut after short-cut with 12-inch figures in both Star Wars (no feet/lower legs on figure) and G.I.Joe (molded hard-plastic clothing) and yet all throughout the 90s we had a standard for quality that exceeded what we saw with 2010/GvC/VvV figures. I guess I just got spoiled with the 1992-2001 era 12-inch Joes.

I see Sideshow doing something quality and with great faithfulness to the brand. Something I haven't seen Hasbro do with regards to the A Real American Hero concept 12-inch product. So, that warrants my money - even if the price is a little steep, I'll take quality over quantity any day.
