My apologies if this has been discussed before, but what type is 25th Rock & Roll's machine gun? I heard is was inspired by a German machine gun?

Thanks,

OB

This was one thing I couldn't understand. Why did Hasbro give an elite unit member in the 80s (time line from back in the day) a 40s era machinegun? It really makes no sense if you use today’s time line. Yes, the MG42 was a formidable weapon, but even Rock n' Roll hybrid M-60 machinegun from ’82 was a better choice. Really he needs an M-60 (which looks like an 80s era M-60). The M-60 is lighter and works just as well as MG42. When the military of any country upgrades, they're always trying to reduce equipment weight the normal trooper has to carry. One advantage of reduced weight means the trooper can carry more ammo and necessities, which leads to less relying on resupplying and over all operational cost. Most elite units don’t get the normal resupply runs of the every day general infantry to begin with. Most are expected to operate with little to no support for the duration of any giving mission, so it’s just an odd choice for any special elite unit to be given a throw back from past. What do you think?

Meh, they gave Stalker an MP40, I'm still trying to ponder that one. Maybe it's their connection to SE Asia, alot of German weapons ended up their.

Those are probably private weapons. Snake-Eyes' personal Uzi. Makes sense that Rock would train with a heavier gun.

And who issues crossbows?

It's the MG 3, the "modern" equivalent of the 42.

I think people should be more irked at the scale issue than the actual fact of what the gun is. RnR is a heavy machine gunner, that means he needs to lay down lots of lead. The MG 3, even 42 lays down more than anything in the US inventory short of the M134. Contrary to posted the M60 never really lived up to expectations.

If you're gonna be this anal i don't wanna see any of your Roadblocks packing that Ma Deuce either. ;) Can't wait to hear the [LASER BLAST] about the Para-Viper's FG 42-anti tank rifle hybrid.

I'ed probably say the reason why you get these WWII era weapons is that they look more exotic and different than what's available today, it's more to attract the kids and casual buyers than us uber realistic military afficiandos, besides since we accept a guy wearing a red baseball jersey in the field or a ninja in white, I don't think we can really complain about WWII weapons being included
Anyway if you're unhappy with the weapons, thankfully we do have solutions for alternate weapons such as those from Marauder, BBI or other 3 3/4 toylines.

Exactly. Be thankful they aren't issuing weapon trees with these things.

I don't really mind R n R's weapon choice, albeit odd. At least it semi-matches the original. I hate Stalker's gun though. They could've just given him the Beachhead SMG, but they had to give him the german gun.

Well at least the Duke they showed at the Con has his orig gun. Hopefully that means any future Stalkers will come with his orig gun as well. I'd like to see Firefly with his orig as well. 90% of my guys I have, I give them their orig weapons including R & R.

And if we are going to be anal, I will point out that the M-60 and other such Squad Auotmatic Weapons (SAW) are LIGHT machine guns (LMG) not heavy machine guns.

Heavy Machine Guns are generally vehicle mounted types. The M2 is considered a Heavy Machine Gun, hence Roadblock was a "Heavy Machine Gunner". Rock and Roll is just a "Machine Gunner" :-P

Well, since we're anal, let's be really anal and tell Hasbro they have to pack-in two green shirt figures with every Roadblock because it's a crew-served weapon. :whistling:

Don't sweat weapons choices folks, remember the alternative.

In Roadblocks first comic appearance he shot down the Rattler with the 50 cal. And they said its due to his strength that he can hold it.
