Yeah, the v1 paintscheme on the v2 buck we got in the mailaway set is the best BAT of all. I'm still hoping for it in the current format with the fuller artic.

Wow, no love for 84 Duke? I thought he was perfectly geared-up.

My faves in no specific order are:

84 Storm Shadow - that backpack is perfect and all the weapons made sense
84 Firefly - just another character that Hasbro nailed perfectly right out of the gate
84 Ripcord - loved the backpack and rifle
85 Dusty - while low on accessories, Dusty looks perfect after he's geared-up
85 Snake-Eyes - the sword and UZI great an iconic look
86 Lowlight - the sniper rifle is still one the best and he just looks like a guy ready to work

I'd add v.2 Storm Shadow, but the red backpack and sword really throws off the fig for me. Make those accessories black and he's on my list ;-)

Frostbite's M-16 with scope was the best . . .

I always liked the weapons with Slings like Footloose and Sneakpeek's M-16, and Outbacks rifle. At the same time I didn't much care for rifles that didn't have a stock like Voltars weapon. I also didn't care for pistols as the only accessory.

I liked figures with a lot of accessories as long as they could hold or carry all of them at once.

I was really drawn to accessories that I didn't recognize or have no idea what they were, so it was completely open to my imagination. Lightfoot's accessories come to mind. He had the little robot thing and the hand held mine detector, but as a kid I had no idea what they were, and for all I know his mine detector could have been a force field generator, which is often how I used it.
Psyche-Out was another example, of this with accessories that I often used for brainwashing.

Then there were some accessories I was disappointed with as a kid: Rock Vipers oversized rifle, and Stretcher's stretcher that wasn't really a stretcher...that sled should have been long enough to carry a wounded Joe like in his card art.
