This reminds me of a commercial I saw last night for some game from SpinArt. You get figures that are basically lego bricks with stickers on them and you mix and match them to create new characters. Then you scan them into the accompanying game and use them to play. The game looked a lot like this, too. As soon as I saw it, I thought, "This is what Hasbro needs to do with GI Joe." (not the blockworld stuff, but the figure that can be 'scanned' into a game)
