We're 11 days out from AR, and in addition to all of the FREE events planned for Assembly Required on November 8th, Joecustoms will be doing a customizing panel! If you ever wanted to see techniques on painting, torso cracking, or general customizing, or were curious to see just how dead-sexy pluv is in person, now's your chance!

Yeah! Wait, what?

Seriously though, if you guys come and want to know how we do anything customizing wise, we'll take requests and answer questions. Oh and JoeDeclassified's booth and panel is going to be worth checking out too. I can't believe how they keep digging up new stuff to show.

Is this the travel case of a customizer, an interrogator, a plastic surgeon or a mad scientist? You'll have to show up to Assembly Required to find out for sure...

Yup. That's Lawrence Olivier's case from Marathon Man.

This show was a lot of fun guys, and I'm glad I went. Next year I'm planning to bring my oldest son too, as I think the raffles and the custom contest will be something he really digs.

I'm not going to lie though - as a customizer and JC guy first, more so than a Joe guy specifically - meeting pluv, joemicheals70, Hypnohustler, Nova, Joeczar, Bucky, Jogun Warrior and A.V.A.C.s Lab, and just hanging out looking at and talking about customs was the clear highlight for me.

That said, meeting gyre-viper was a trip, and I appreciate that Gary took the time to run the declassified powerpoint for me, since I missed the panel while covering the JC table. Similarly enjoyed meeting Gary Godsoe, James Kavanaugh and many others.

Thanks to Steve and Brian for putting on such a low key, fun and friendly event.

I was thinking there was one other thing... what was it...

Oh yeah...

1st place in the 3 and 3/4" custom figure contest, woot!

(Though, in fairness, really only because jm was kind enough to put all his fantastic Mystery, Inc. figures along with his vehicle-contest-winning Misery Machine entry.)

My top 10 things from Assembly Required 2014:

10- The walk to Zombie Burger through the mean streets of downtown Des Moines, Iowa
9- The nachos that were too big for one man to tame, right JM70?
8- No standing in line for anything!
7- Meeting the legendary DrBindy himself!
6- Not being $1000 in the hole before the show even began
5- The Major Bludd concept art that cannot be unseen.....
4- There were no jorts or bullhorns to be found
3- Doing a casting demo and not getting any resin on my clothes, but the red dye that was hemorrhaging was kind of a mess
2- scoring some sweet Ron Wagner art, pictures to follow

and the number one top thing from Assembly Required:
1. Hanging out in the hotel lobby talking Joes and free corporate breakfasts until 1:30 AM, 4:00 AM for others, right JM70?

Hanging out with the JC crew is always a blast.
(Also they pretend really hard that they are listening to me when I talk).

The Joe Customs panel was fantastic. Not being a customizer (at all) it was intensely educational.

Actually eating at Zombie-Burger was a treat this time around. And yes, that bizarre Major Bludd, Lisa Frank Zartan, and good 'ol Ronnie Raygun are bits from the Declass panel I won't forget.

Its a great show since it's still small enough I actually get to interact with fellow fans from other corners of the web. At JoeCon everyone kind of splits off into their individual sites. The crossover is really nice.

I had a lot of fun hanging out at Assembly required and getting to see Hypno, Bucky, and JoeMichaels again. Also got to finally meet 'Bindy, and Pluv, which was awesome...you guys are all great!

Usually with "Cons its all about how much stuff I can take home, and I don't think I purchased more than three things this year, and two of the three were for my daughter anyway! I had a blast just loitering!
