A friend of mine and I were talking about Luke Ellison having won that contest a few years ago where his likeness was made into figure for the Steel Brigade/Plague set.

What if every year the Club had a contest where your likeness was used for a figure? Pay your yearly fee and you're entered. After the head sculpt is done, existing parts are used for the body and you get to have a say in the background of the character and even choose the code name, etc.

We thought about how this might be done though:

1) Do you get your own unique one off figure? Might be too expensive for that.

2) Is it a limited edition figure offered only to the Club? Maybe, but who besides you and some of your friends and completest collectors would want the figure? It'd have to be something special for other collectors to want it.

3) Would your head sculpt be used as one of the Con figure set heads? If you look like one of the characters, that might not be a bad idea, but then you're likeness is that established character and not your own.

4) Same idea as above, but use it with an FSS figure? At least that way there's be a bit more leeway with what character the head might be used with. With the Con set, they're limited to a group, what if you don't look like one of those guys? FSS isn't really limited to just one group, they seem to be grabbing from all areas for those figures. Though it's not like new characters have been included in the Con sets like Iron Bear or Crimson Asp.

Something tells me a lot of people would be pretty POed if they found out their mysterious 13th figure turned out to be me :darkjedi:

I, on the other hand, would be :rotfl: at people paying $$$ to get it.

Honestly, I wouldn't want this. In the 1970's, I was mostly collecting Megos, and I customized a few of them here and there. I decided to do a custom version of myself, and really, it looked pretty good. It also creeped me out for some reason I've never been able to fully explain. There was just something unnerving about having this action figure version of -- me -- staring at me from the shelf. I eventually decustomized it.

It would be one thing for Hasbro or the Club to use my name as the real name of a G.I. Joe character. Certainly plenty of real person's names have been used in the line over the years. I would consider that a distinct honor.

Having it LOOK like me!? Not so sure about that. On the other hand, if it was a member of the Steel Brigade, I suppose I could always keep the helmet on it so it wasn't always staring at me from a shelf or something...
