I'm really underwhelmed with the 30th anniversary figures. Hasbro passed up an opportunity to make some really interesting sets.

What would it take to make it perfect for you? Give 5 or so bullet points as to your perfect sets.

I would have liked to have seen:

OG 13 Set

*All figures in updated outfits, but in a similar color sets that reflect their '82 releases.
*Alternate unmasked head of Snake-Eyes
*Bonus "bronze" figure of Breaker, as he died per Hama's canon.
*Packaged in a two-tier playset box that looked like the inside of the pit

Early Marvel Set featuring

*Bald Cobra from Issue #1
*Dr. Burkhardt
*Undercover Baroness and her disguised crew from the train raid
*General Flagg
*General Austin
*Dr. Venom

Dress Uniform Set

*Could use any Joe in Dress Uniform- maybe at least on from every branch plus...
*Include one or two non-military Joes (such as Shockwave in police dress uniform, Bullet Proof in a suit or whatever the DEA would wear). We've had some discussions about how a handful of Joes seem to be assigned from non-military sources
*Limited/hidden articulation to keep from mangling the flow of the uniform sculpts
*Maybe a few characters known for their beards or long hair sculpted clean shaven/short hair

Animals

*re-releases of every GI Joe animal character
*with more complex paint schemes
*throw in animals not released in US (wasn't there an animal or two with Argentinian and/or Brazilian figures that were exclusive to those countries?)
*a whole bunch of snakes

The 30th was too short lived and had too few figures, but I loved Law and Order, Sci-Fi, Airtight, and Lifeline as a kid. This was seriously a dream come true for me,until they were so scarce where I live. If there had been another version of Dusty involved, it would have been perfect for me.

Cobra Specialist Army-Builder Set. No individuals, just troopers, preferably of ones that they hadn't yet gotten around to in the modern format.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

Gimme a Heat, Frag, yellow/black Alley, Snow Serpent v2, Hydro, Secto, and a SAW that actually looks like the v1 outfit on a bruiser big enough to lug that cannon and ammo around, and I'll but 5 sets. Easy.

I liked most of what we got and can understand why they focused on figures and no sets. The stuff sold fairly well but if it shipped in decent quantity it sat. So yeah. We did get some ultimate versions of various characters. That Sci-Fi is great and an obvious nod to long time fans.

Yeah it would have been nice to see more to some degree. Who knows, if the movie does well we might actually get more than we bargained for.

I'd have loved an updated Stars and Stripes type O13 set like mentioned.

They could've done a female trooper set featuring 2 girl Cobra Vipers, 2 girl Troopers, 1 girl CG and 1 girl IG. They could've made one of each Viper and Trooper racially diverse and provided an alternate Tele-Viper vest and head and alternate Officer helmet and harness.

And an alternate outfit comic pack for some of the specialist Joes would have been cool, too. Deep Six in his outfit from the Special Missions comic on the Jane, Borovia train Quick Kick and Outback, devil's Due Spirit, undercover/plain clothes Duke and Roadblock.

I'm also on board with the Original 13 team set. Given Hasbro's apparent preference for 7-packs, they could have broken the original 13 characters into two boxed sets, with a General Flagg figure filling the 14th spot. Then, a bad-guy 7-pack with Cobra Commander, the Baroness, Scarface, Kwinn, Dr. Venom, the robot from issue #3 (possibly using the first-appearance Iron Man mold with a new head), and maybe Wingfield; that would comprise a pretty nice cross-section of the main villains from the early issues of the comic.

If they wanted to go bigger, they could take the four vehicle drivers out of the 7-packs and replace them with four of the villains, and then release the drivers with their respective vehicles. We know they still have the molds for the MOBAT, VAMP, and MMS; if they don't have the HAL, they could just use the JUMP and include a silver-padded Grand Slam. Or, if they really wanted to get crazy, they could keep Grand Slam in the 7-packs and release a JUMP with silver-pad GS. It might make a nice mail-in offer.

Now that they've got that nice Retaliation Firefly mold, they could do a pretty solid update of the Original 13 characters utilizing that tooling. Just mold the figures in varying shades of green, give them the appropriate webgear, mix in a few rolled-up sleeves and paint the collar of the undershirt red as a nod to the weird turtlenecks that the figures had. I would buy the hell out of a set like that.

The 30th line was awesome.
It's only problem was that it wasn't given the proper time and distribution to soar.
What was released under the 30th banner was excellent and I hope it'll find a way to live again throughout the Retaliation line.
