Any suggestions on how to best display your cobra parachutes that come with the movie cobra? I remember there was a sigma six joe in TRU hanging on some sort of parachute stand but I'm not really sure what it was. This of course was a few years ago. Ideally I'd like to hang some from the ceiling with the parachutes all opened. But I'm not sure the best way to go about this

Any tips? Or post some pics if you've tried already.

I just picked one up today. I was wondering the same thing. I might try some thin wire and make a hoop.

Someone, maybe the club, sold clear plastic domes a few years ago. They were meant to go under the parachute to mimic it being open with the figure hanging below.

I was thinking to try something like that.

When I get around to it, that is what I want to do. A clear plastic dome of some sort under the chute. Then take a needle and fishing line and thread it through the dome and the middle of the chute to hang it. The biggest challege here is finding something appropriate for the dome. The ones the club had years back were for 12" figures. I am sure they could be cut down, but they were pricey for what they were. There must be some common household item that can be used, just have to find it.

And I don't know about you guys, but I bought that figure just for the chute and harness. I am putting it on another figure like a vintage Snow Serpent or Cobra Trooper. I just don't care for the modern figure construction.

You can make your own with some thin plastic like the kind figure bubbles are made of. Not sure where you'd get a solid piece big enough to fill the 'chute but it would be pretty easy to make once you found it.

If any of you have a dollar tree near you, they sell candy bowls that are plastic.
Only issue is that you either have to use wire to hover the bowl, or make a hole in the center of the parachute to hang the bowl

Get a clothes hanger and either freehand bend it to the shape, or find a bowl if you need a form. Do 3 piece the same and use pliers to wrap another piece around the center, or use string to tie the 3 piece together. Attach kite string or fishing line to each end and drape the parachute over it. Cheapest and easiest way beyond the idea of using clear bowls as mentioned.

I was thinking that it could be done paper mache style the way my mom used to make us a pinata.

Blow up a balloon to fit inside the parachute so it is about the perfect size. Then take long strips of newspaper about 1" wide and dip them in a mix of elmer's glue and water (mostly elmer's glue...making sure it is soaked). Then lay these strips on the balloon. Allow it to dry then deflaet the balloon. You will have a relatively lightweight dome that can be cut to perfectly fit under the parachute. But I'd probably paint the insides.

Ideally, it would be cool to find a source for full clear domes so that the whole look of those chutes can be enjoyed on display, even from underneath. But most other options will make them a weird shape.

Not sure if the size is large enough, but long ago I got a hat bowl (used to machine wash my caps while in the service) that was decent size and made of the same plastic that is used for craft cross stitching.

Costco in Canada sells fresh salad in thin round dome like clear plastic bowls that would be perfect for that, but they might not be in US stores

Local hobby stores sell styrofoam globes and half globes.

Seem lightweight enough to use for this.
