Fred Meyer originally started in Portland - it's basically all over the northwest, but that's about it. It was a SuperTarget before there was a Target/Walmart/KMart/whatever. Growing up, it was the true one-stop shop - groceries, pharmacy, clothes, tires, toys -- everything. Again - decades before WM or Target went "Super" -- hell, decades before they even existed. Never a "LASER BLAST" like KMart or Walmart - Fred Meyer stores are almost always clean and un-cluttered. Prices aren't the best, but they're comparable with most places - the big advantage is that they're not a friggin' WalMart ;-)

The Kroger merger is pretty recent - since Kroger started out as an East Coast chain (here, the King Sooper grocery stores are part of the Kroger family) -- but Freddy's was selling their own groceries and local produce LONG before the merger.

MORONS!!!!
IMBECILES!!!
IDIOTS!!!!

Sorry I'm livid right now because I found out one of the Super Walmarts that dumped MU & Joe did it again.
They had Namor for $5. I couldn't find any other in the mess that was the clearance aisles.
They also put Joes for $3.50. Nothing but wave 1 Renegades. I found most of them and put them back in the regular aisle to spite them.
This was the Walmart where I took back lots of pegwarmers. Eventually they gave in & restocked those lines normally. Well I guess they will be getting tons of pegwarmers again. :verymad:
They also pulled out tons of RoC Joe females out of nowhere. Seriously they find these in the back room AFTER Xmas!!! Then they have the gaul to mark them at $7!!!
They also have the Sentinel for regular priced "clearance."

The Super Walmart near me has had the same 5 Dukes w/missile launcher thing.... for over a month to two months...the dept head "claimed" there was 26 on hand and she wasn't ordering any and none in the back.... told her they were shoplifted then... she just said "oh well"... I sent a email to corporate and the asst. Mgr calls me and asks whats going on with it.. I told him what was going on and he went and redid the on hands and ordered two cases... :D so we'll see what they get in...

I once heard that Walmart's near military bases carry more military-themed toys. I've seen that to somewhat be true with the 21st Century items I used to collect, but haven't confirmed this trend yet with Joes. It certainly does not hold true in my area even though I live near the nation's largest naval training facility - one WM has nothing Joe, and the other still only has wave 1 ROC!

But anyhow, something to consider for WMs (or maybe Targets, TRUs as well?) in your area.
