I think I see what you're seeing and if its the same thing you're seeing it's the distortion on the brown missiles from the embossing on the figure bubble. The rectangular burst that copies the art burst on the card is making the brown missiles appear to be a different shape. I think they are the same. Why tool up different missiles when the existing ones are just fine?

Honestly I originally thought it would be a better fit to use the new SE body for the Steel Brigade. But after getting one with the Shock Trooper parts I think the SE body is too plain. The panels on the arms and the detailed kneepads give this figure the oomph it needs.

Actually they are placed in the backpack backwards! 8-O
I've already got plenty of extra guns & silencers. Snake Eyes & the 1st Cobra Trooper came with doubles.

I guess the Pentagon finally got embarrassed to be dressing their troops in the same uniform as Cobra!

Seriously though, I don't see this as an improvement. A MUCH more welcome running change would have been to change that stupid baby blue color to a tan or dark green. I love Steel Brigade, but that blue looks so out of place on a soldier. I can't think of a single environment where it would bend in. I would buy several if it came in an appropriate color, as it is, one is enough. Try harder, Hasbro.

The missiles are the same, and they're in the right way around. There's just a lot of detail getting lost in the shadows, on the darker missiles.

The light blue sleeves and turtle neck are way too iconic for v1 style Steel Brigade. It'd just be so wrong if they go rid of that. I would, however, rather see them use a slightly darker shade. Considering that Joe ranks include (among other strangeness) a guy who goes into battle wearing a bright red football jersey, I don't have a problem with the blue.

Hmm...can't be mad about this existing. In fact, I think I'd actually pick it up if I saw this figure.

Found a few yesterday at Target. Looks like they're shipping with a wave 2 Revision case. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... icture=out

That one from what I can tell. The Cobra Troopers on the shelf were all the version without the barbed wire and with only one pistol/silencer. Obviously the arms and legs on the new SB are different, the figure doesn't include a pistol or knife for the gear on the legs. The pistol is no biggy, since I have extra ones from all the Cobra Troopers I bought, but I'll have to see if there are any knives that work well besides the one intended for it, since I don't have any extras of those around. The accessory pack-out is the same as the PoC/30th Wave 1 version, but they've removed the the paint apps on the backpack and the gun with the bayonet. Also, there's the obvious change in color on the missiles. With the reduced paint applications and the empty holster/sheath this variant is a worse value than the previous versions, but the change in the arms and legs was enough to sucker me in for a few of them at least. Though now that I think of it, they could have really upped the interest in the variant by switching to the Steel Brigade Delta helmet and head. Though if they did that, I certainly wouldn't be planning to get another VAMP, so I can't really blame them.

Reviving this thread for a question...

I've had two Steel Brigade figures I bought awhile ago and just got around to opening (old style). I opened them today, and as I was setting them up, I noticed one of them has a stand that says "Cobra Viper" instead of Steel Brigade, but still has the raise GI Joe logo instead of the Cobra symbol. I know this is just an error and probably not widespread, but it anyone else getting misnamed stands?

I've heard of that happening.

Would've been interesting if Hasbro had mixed in mold combinations that matched up with the v1 combo's, provided the modern designs were compatible.
