Long before G.I. Joe vs Transformers, when Spidey was having a mini Marvel Team-Up with Gears in issue #3 of the original Transformers series, there were G.I. Joe vehicles floating around the scene, specifically Mobats and Wolverines.

What's funny is that I was reading that EXACT issue on Thursday when I was going through my old comix (it was my first Transformers comic.)

I never noticed the Wolverines when I was a kid, but they were glaringly obvious when I was re-reading it.

Good stuff :D

Huh, never noticed before.

Probably was too busy being absorbed by the deep, involving multilayered plotline.

But seriously, the first four issues were pretty much skimmable, hence why I didn't pay enough attention to see them. The comic book didn't actually pick up steam until Bob Budiansky took up writing duties starting with issue 5.

I remember noticing that. I can't recall the artist's name at the moment, but he had done a few issues of GI Joe prior to pencilling this issue, so he just drew what he knew.

His name was Frank Springer, and he was awesome.

That's who it was.

His art lacked dynamics sometimes, in my opinion, but it was always clean and easily understood, unlike so many of today's comic book artists.

Agreed on Issue 5 being the turning point. I remember pick it up and looking at the cover thinking "OMG." Whatever happened to that would-be superhero from TF? Circuit-Breaker I think.

She's Marvel's property so Hasbro can't do a thing with her.

Yea, it's funny. I recently picked up one of the big reprints that IDW did of the Marvel issues... and they couldn't reprint the ones with Circuit Breaker in it. Instead, they showed the covers and gave a synopsis.

So I guess the issue with Spider-Man wasn't reprinted then.
