In reading through them again, there were only two references to "back half of 2010) and one of them was regarding the release of the mailaway Cobra Commander. For now, I'm going to go ahead and assume that the other reference was an error. I just don't see Hasbro allowing the shelves to be bare of new product for basically 6 months.

Because the other half of the battle is not telling. That's how you win!

That is a bummer about timing on PoC, if accurate. I'd think they'd want to hit us just before Christmas with the latest stuff from RoC and then get us again in Springtime with PoC. But no one asked for my advice.

I am truly looking forward to those Jungle Vipers though.

Maybe just me, but i took it that the PoC stuff they said would be delayed meant the packaging change/marketing push to help better lead in to the next movie.

Also, the last star wars comic packs had sold terribly...especially their repacking old waves in new packs. Ok those are only the ones that have sold terribly. Well, disco leia too..

it always kind of bugs me that the Star Wars Q&A gets actual answers while the Joe ones get single sentence replies that consist generally of "not at this time".

To be fair they have a lot more people that they can ask "hey can we get such and such made?" Than we can. I mean after chick in the furry suit and dr. venom, hector ramirez, the wiper, etc...there aren't a lot of choices compared to three movies and 3 prequels with a ton of named characters who somehow lead exciting lives lol.

Technicly POC has already hit retail. City Strike SE and his wave are the first of POC.

Ditto the TRU exclusive STing Raider. It's in PoC packaging too.

Despite Hasbro being "very pleased" (another term they use in about half their answers) with the movie line, I just don't believe it is selling anywhere near as well as they expected. Originally they probably planned to release PoC early in the year, but when RoC sales reality hit them, I think they now realize they need more time to clear RoC off the shelves. We still haven't even seen wave 4 round here. Think of the next 6+ months as a "mini-hiatus". :evilmonkey:

That's what you get when you are unrealistically greedy with your pricing, and when your single means of marketing a product is a movie. Hope the Hasbro guys are taking notes. :hasbronerd:

It still sucks sour frog ass because I am SO looking forward to those PoC figures. They seem amazingly cool!

The fact we're seeing tons and tons of peg warmers everywhere means Hasbro sold a lot of merchandise to all the retailers. The retailers might not be happy that the remaining stuff isn't moving, but make no mistake Hasbro should be pleased.

You forget that while Marvel Universe and Star Wars figures are getting ever and ever closer to $10 a figure, GI Joe prices are coming back down to closer around $5. So they aren't that greedy.

As for their marketing, there were honest to goodness toy commercials for GI Joe. There were print adds in all the toy magazines. Every news stand magazine (from People to Entertainment Weekly) with an interview with a cast member from the movie plugged the toyline. Oh, and now there is another movie in the works. So...I forgot my point. Something about the marketing for GI Joe not being a problem at all.

The problem with the pegwarmers has been addressed in a lot of different threads, but I think had the first two waves been a little lighter, sales would be looking better - assuming re-stocks included equal amounts of the later waves. Can't tell you how many times I've gone to the local stores in search of fodder and left empty handed because I have as much as I need from the first couple waves.

Remember this thread is about the Hasbro Q&As, not distribution or sales.

Direct quote from The Fwoosh : "Generally speaking we do not release images of works in progress, as details can change. We will be releasing the POC line in the back half of 2010."

Direct quote from HissTank : "The Pursuit of Cobra product will hit shelves in the back half 2010. The
line looks fantastic and we are very excited about its release."

YoJoe was the reference for the mailaway Cobra Commander.

I stand corrected. Still, we know that these figures are being produced right now, so if they weren't going to release them until mid 2010 they'd have to pay to store them in the interim, which makes no sense. So I'm still going to go ahead and call it a mistake. I think we'll probably see wave one by March, if not sooner.

I think they are being produced because the original plan was to release them 1st of the year, just like the wave 3 Alpha vehicles were already planned to be on shelf. Likely, the slow sales of both the figures and Alpha vehicles is the reason for the delay in release, to give the retailers more time to move the current backlog of stock.

Although, I do agree that pushing POC all the way back to at least summer leaves a fairly large gap without new product. On the other hand, Hasbro has shown with both Star Wars and between the end of the 25th line and beginning of ROC line that they aren't afraid to have a several month gap without new product.
