I bought a lot of figures on eBay that cosisted of two comic packs, one was the Spirit, Hannibal, Cover Girl set the other the Tommy, Lonzo, classified set. All I wanted was the Cover Girl. since I had no use for the other five figures, I added them to my for sale box. When I sold the Tommy, Lonzo, Classified set, I realized what a cool figure sculpt Classified really is. I made the commitment to sell it, so I bought anohter one on eBay.
I realized that Classified actually is a pretty useless character, unless you're reenacting the trio's time in Viet Nam, so I figured I repaint him and make him a custom character.

Below is a picture of the figure I got. There are a few differences I noticed right away...first and most obvious is the lack of shading around his eyes. I thought this was an inovative idea by Hasbro to replicate his appearance in the comics. In this case, I was glad it was lacking the shading, as it kept me from having to come up with a new head and trying to pry that boonie cover off.
The next thing is the camo pattern on his cover. I seem to recall there being a bit of black in the pattern, this is only yellow. It does have the picture in the headband though.
The ammo belt isn't painted as well as the first figure I bought.
The other thing about this figure is some markings located under his left breast pocket and the same marking on his back. It looks like "VM."
I bought the figure from a Chinese seller and I know I've read something about those markings, I just can't remember what they're for.

I think you got a painted prototype or a test run figure. I could be wrong though.

Im thinking a lot of these figures sold on ebay are "factory rejects" or product samples (hence the "m" marking on them) which may explain the odd paint schemes or differences from the production version.

Awesome score. You have a relatively hard to find sample figure.

I have one of those as well and it is up at http://www.joeintel.com

Preproduction>Action Figures>Vendor Samples>2006

The other thing special about it is that the upper arms are a different mold than the one that was produced. Mine also came with preproduction colors on the accessories. The corresponding Tommy Arashikage figure doesn't have any camo on his bandanna...it is just all dark green. I don't know if there is anything special about Lonzo, because I just have the other two.

I definitely would not customize that if I were you. It is likely worth something to the right buyer. And oddball things like this really are just fun to have.

NERTZ! I already painted him...oh, well, my loss.
I notice that about his sleeves, too. The production figure had rolled up sleeves, where as this version has a short sleeve shirt.

I really wish I'd come across this comic pack at retail! They are pretty fresh looking figures. Too bad the other LRRP members didn't make the cut.
