Check out this Doc I found on eBay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-Joe-Rise-of-Cobr ... RCH:US:101

The only thing that says "Doc" to me is a black guy with green sunglasses. It must be the way the plastic tray is formed, but it looks like his legs were amputated right above the knee and his lower legs are hi-tech prthetics. And why would pacifst Doc have Firefly's backpack? why would a doctor need a can of gas and C-4?

I don't know the answer to your questions about why Hasbro would make a Doc that has this gear or looks this way. But the speculation is that it is legit, from some of the things I have read in regard to this ebay sale. The seller is one of the ones who fairly regularly posts prototypes and early releases, and from past observation is usually on the money.

Doc looks like the 21st century arctic rescue figure from 2003-ish, which is pretty cool. Shippy looks cool too, but I wish Hasbro would lose the mold for that rifle.

Shippy could totally be an ROC Frostbite. Doc, I'm not entirely sold on with those colors. The scheme has a Funskool feel to it. Plus on Arctic missions, he has that "Shoot me because my clothes are bright" look.

I think most of it is the paint job...the colors change often enough that it seems to be stripes...

also...Doc may be a pacifist...but he's never been shown to be opposed to using weapons like Life Line was in the cartoon.

I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable reason to have C4 in an arctic rescue kit...they use cannons and mortars all the time in Avalanche prevention... Gas Cans are red...Being blue that can would technically be Kerosene...or maybe water...both would be logical survival gear.

I really like this look for doc...I think it's perfect and works well for an arctic rescue worker...it's also a nice little nod the Adventure Team folks....I'll totaly be getting him.

That rifle is an M-1 Garand. It's a great rifle, but just not practical in the modern military. I don't know why they'd give it to Shipwreck though, unless part of his arctic misson is to club baby seals.
I needed four of those rifles and actually bought four Crimson Guard v11 just to have them, I have no use for the figures, but the rifles have come in very handy.

Huh, hadn't even though of that....that's a GREAT idea! His Battle Crops figure had a stocking hat that was similar. Thanks for the idea! :-D
