I recently decided to aquire a second Viper Commando for an upcoming project that required his grisly looking head and over the last few days, I have searched high and low. I went to 4 TRUs, 5 Targets, 3 Walmarts, 3 K-Marts, etc. and found EXACTLY 1 Viper Commando (which was found this afternoon at a Target in Riverdale, NJ). There are TONS of Neo Vipers, but one, single Viper Commando in all of these locations. What's up with that?

Were they more popular than their Neo Viper buddies?

Have they only shipped once while the Neos continue to ship?

Was there suddenly a run on them?

I've seen a few of these at retail, mostly TRU, but never more than one per location.

I just assumed they were packed 1 per case.

I've found plenty of eels, so he's shipping. The Viper Commando just seems to sell out faster than the other troops. Neo Vipers don't seem to move so fast though.

On a not entirely unrelated note, I put off getting desert Dukes for parts because I saw so many of him on shelves. Now he seems to be disappearing. Likewise Breaker and other figs from earlier waves.

I stopped by Walmart today and they had a bunch, as well as Pit commandos and at least one Duke (accelerator).

Thanks everyone, but like my first post says, I actually found one after tons of searching. I was posting only to speculate as to why a figure that was in such abundance a few months ago was no so scarce.

price drop maybe and the release of the movie. I haven't been looking for viper commandos so I don't really know. it seems more figures are leaving the shelves.

I've always seen fewer of these than the regular Vipers, and I was paying attention because I prefer them to the other by a long shot. I pretty much passed on troop building the basic troops because of that.

He's an initial wave release, and was not repackaged in later assortments like the Neo-Viper was, so yeah, he's scarcer than the Neo-Viper.
