I'm a journalism major and in my one class, we have to do a retrospective article, which is looking at a past big event during an aniversary year. Obviously, in our lives, G.I. Joe was a big event, and it's been 45 years since G.I. Joe debuted in the 12" form in 1964. I was hoping that some of you guys would be willing to give me some input for my article. You guys are pretty much the experts in this field.
If you're willing to help, I'd love to hear how G.I. Joe has impacted your life. It'd be great to hear how you think the classic 12" look of Joes has influenced the current definition we view today. As collectors with a unique look at this phenomenon, how does the outside world view your collection and your love for this 2"-12" plastic toy? Could you please describe how, at all, your collecting aspects have transformed over the years (did you grow up with 12" and then change to 3 3/4" but then turn to love Sigma Six? Things like that). How, if at all, do you think the outside world has been changed/influenced the existence of this line?
Any input you guys are willing to give me over the past 45 years if G.I. Joe history would be great and I'd really appreciate it. If you're willing to help, it'd be great if I could get your full name, age and where you live. If you aren't comfortable with that information being placed on the board, a PM is welcome, or an e-mail is just as good (
