Noticed this in my Westfield Comics catalog today -- Volume 6 -- that's SIX -- of G.I.Joe Classic trade paperbacks from IDW.

Now, I have the first five of the trade paperbacks from Marvel, which is when they ceased publishing them. And even though I have all of the original comics, there is something to be said for the convenience of the trades.

I was pleased that IDW was reprinting them, but I was also hoping they would go BEYOND them, and this confirms to me that they are! They're even continuing to have J. Scott Campbell do the new covers.

Good news as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully it is for some of you as well! :-D

I think that since they started putting these out right away when they got the license we'll see them get at least the entire main title run out in TPB form. They did take up a few publishing slots with those "best of" compilations which I have passed on because they're coming out in sequential order eventually.

I don't have the original Marvel run except for a couple of issues I picked up as a kid. So these trades are great and I'm loving reading the issues a few at a time.

Yeah, I've been passing on the "Best of" ones myself for precisely the same reason.

I've seen the re-releases of the trades and was waiting for the ones that never came out. I'll have to grab the others so I'll have them in print that way eventually.

Are the IDW TPB exactly like those that came out a few years ago?
Are they divided in the say way issue wise?

They're every 10 issues. I have the original Marvel tpb volume 1 and then picked up with the IDW tpbs for Volumes 2, 3, & 4.

Must haves to fill the holes in your comic collections.

They didn't really take any publishing slots for the Best of TPBs, the Classics have been coming out every other month on schedule. The 'Best of' books seemed to exist to have some character specific books out there for the movie release. The quality of those books wasn't as good, as they hadn't nailed down the re-coloring process, so anything not previously collected didn't look as good.

IDW has said that the they've got the coloring process in place now, so Classic TPBs 6+ should look much better.
