I went to Walgreens today and saw new stock going out. They have their 3 for $13.98 sale going on toys. They've sat out the new M.A.R.S. figures. This time there are 3 different packs with 3 different figures. Each figure comes with a battle stand too. They look to have all new molds without reusing the older parts. The difference that hit me straight off though is that they do not have elbow joints now. While it's not that big a deal since the originals didn't have a ton of movement, I'd rather have seen them have better elbow joints instead of none and preposed. They're not shorter or any difference in size, but they're not as bulky as the originals either which make them seem smaller. Heightwise they are exactly the same. I think it's the arms over all that's causing this as they are shorter due to the elbow joint being removed.

I'll have pics later when I get time, but I wanted to get this heads up out there for those theat might be out and about this evening and want to look for them. Here's 2 links for a refresher for what these are for those that either don't know or forgot:

These new ones are the Armored Core ripoff ones they'd shown a year or two ago, right? i was wondering when those would see a release.

So now that I have opened one, they are smaller. They are a lot like the Mega Bloks robots that were in those egg sort of things. They're not really that bad, but the older ones are better. I guess I'd only suggest these for people that like small scale action figures in general. If you have a size scale you stick to, meaning most within the 3 3/4" to 4" scale, I guess stay away from these. The same height as the Valor vs Venom Frostbite figure and he is short compared to even the other G.I.Joe figures at that time.

Hmmm -- not bad. The lack of an elbow joint is troubling, as is the shorter height, but hey, they're robots. No reason they can't be shorter. I may have to head to a Walgreens. I've heard they're also at Dollar General.

And J_Man, thanks for referencing my review of the originals! :-D

There is something I've always sort of wanted to add about the three aliens from the original MARS Heroes line.

I originally wrote:

The Aliens come in three colors - Orange, Green, and Blue. They're pretty much identical, except the blue one has different lower arms than the other two, and they all have distinct - well, I'm assuming those are their heads sticking out of their torsos. They're molded in bright transparent plastic that has a sort of frosted look to it. It's not quite clear, but neither is it opaque. Painted details are kept to a minimum on these guys.

I can readily see a toy collector working them into any number of toy lines. Star Wars would probably be the most obvious choice. Me - I could see them as advance scouts or cannon fodder or something for the Lunartix Aliens within the G.I. Joe concept, as well.

It has since occurred to me that orange, green, and blue are also the primary colors of the three Lunartix Aliens, in their original color schemes. Carcass is almost entirely orange, Lobotomaxx has green skin, and Predacon blue.

While I doubt it was intentional on the part of the company that made the MARS Heroes Aliens, it wouldn't be too much of a conceptual stretch to use them as some sort of remote drones for the Lunartix, with each one color-coded to a specific alien. Just a thought.

As for these new MARS Heroes Megabots, I'll have to check them out... Thanks for the pics! I'll know better what to look for.

I just noticed the top 3 pics of the packaged figures. I shot 1 package twice and didn't get the other package. I'll try and have the other one shot tomorrow. Got in a rush trying to finish this before bedtime.

Thanks for the info J'.

These new MARS figures only illustrate to me how much cooler the originals were . Replacing a ball elbow joint and , in essence , replacing it with terrain/ a diorama piece is a step backwards IMO. Im getting a Wheeljack/Hound hybrid feel from the green treaded 'bot.

Have you heard or seen any news related to the MARS Heroes mech (that can walk) with what looked like a mini figure mech pilot (im thinking between 1.5'' and 3'' tall) ?

There were pictures (probably posted by you ) posted of these shown at Toy Fair (?) and ive not seen them at retail or heard about them since. I want that BADLY.

Yeah that green one they named "Tanker". They have names on the back of the package for each. He has a very Robotech feel to him in hand actually.

For the images I forgot last night, here they are. The back of the card shot, the third package, and comparison shots with the Mega Bloks robot. The one Mega Blocks and MARS shot with their arms all stretched out is to show the range the arms can, or in this case can't move. The Mega Bloks guy has no elbow, knee, or ankle joints, but he actually can get in beter poses than the MARS guy.

The M.A.R.S. Heroes figure range of motion is ball ankle, ball knees, ball hips, swivel arms and swivel head. The parts do connect to the older M.A.R.S. figures too if you wanted to use any of the parts. Also that third pack I shot has the same robots in it from the other 2 packs. The red and purple one are in one package, and the blue one is in another package. So you only have to get 2 packs really to have them all.

I did see new walking robots, but I didn't see if they were the newest ones. They were up in the overstock section and I didn't get anyone to get any down. I figure I'll go back during the week. They were in the process of setting out all the new stuff so it's a chance they'll have some down later in the week since there was so many on the top shelf.

How much are they?
Perhaps Hotwire Vrs Gears - BATS vrs PAC RAT MKIIIs is what comes to mind

Make a team of three bots lead by Robo - Joe vrs a team of three Bats (Sky, Ninja, Regular) lead by Overkill

Two great five packs

Sorry I geeked out for a moment - yeah I could see these being an Anti-BAT defense

3 for $13.98 or $6.99 each. The only problem with them working with G.I.Joe, and most of all the 25th sculpt, is they're too short. They'd do fine with RAH, and they're ok with New Sculpt, but you'd have to be ok with them being short for the 25th guys.

So I was right, these are the Armored Core ripoff guys. That gray one, Darkbeat looks way too similar to the Crest Close Combat type to be a coincidence. The green guy with the gatling gun arms is actually kind of neat though.

Thanks for the heads up. Not as good as the first ones, but that green one with the gattling gun arms is intriguing.
