Yeah, every time I've seen cases from those days, they were either 24 or maybe 36, unsure about the 36. I was a kid buying them, starting in late 82, and I was able to find them all on the shelves, despite only being able to buy them at Ben Franklin's and K-Mart, sometimes. (Although I did get to hit SEARs in Canada, once in a while, for my sweet MSV!) So I don't really remember any of them as being hard to find.

The kind of numbers I've heard were closer to the 100,000 range for figures in the heyday (think 84-86). Which doesn't really sound unreasonable to me, as I heard the same kinds of numbers for Star Wars, and by then Joe was bigger than Star Wars.

I can confirm the 24 piece cases as I know somebody that still has one sealed with 24 figures inside it.

I'm sure there were other sizes too, but I've only seen the one.
