ASP. It and the Skyhawk were the first two Joe toys that I had. It just looked cool, and it had that roll cage, to keep the operator safe.

Y'know, as long as nobody was shooting at him....

On the battlefield....

Water Mocassin

It's sleek, has good colors, and the weapons are good and variev: two heavy cannon, one turret that both swivels and elevates, and that sweet ski torpedo. Plus Copperhead's cool as hell. A boat racer with a gambling addiction? What's not to like.

And another thing about the Mocassin: many a Cobra is now a fine, red mist because of that fan on the back.

Had to be the Cobra Rattler, much as I despise being blindingly obvious. In the first place, it's an incredibly cool plane. In the second place, it's based on the real-life A-10, a generous supply of which are based here in Tucson at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, so I see them in the skies all the time.

In fairness, though, the Cobra Stinger Jeep and the Water Moccasin are also very cool vehicles, and of the drivers/pilots for all three vehicles, I'd give the edge to Copperhead. Cool design, and a distinctive color scheme.

Rattler without question. My first experience with the Rattler was buying two TRU Rattlers on clearance for $10 each. I fell in love with it! But I didn't want to stop there. Eventually I won a box of broken Rattlers on eBay for $80 and was able to make two perfect planes.

But anyway, it's just such a cool design. I love the A-10, and throwing some VTOL engines and COBRA logos make it one of my all-time favorite vehicles in the G.I. Joe toyline.

Totally nostalgia here, but I went with the ASP. The Water Moccasin and the Rattler will garner the most votes and deservedly so. The ASP is a favorite of mine dating all the way back to when I chose it over all the others off the shelf. It soon became the "flag" in every capture the ASP scenario I could come up with.

agreed, and to be fair, it could attack ground and air targets, so it did have versatility on its side.

Then again, in joe, the rattler fought the skystriker, so hmm.

But I agree Pluv, much as I loved the moccasin and rattler(which I did not have until much later), the asp was just fun.

Water Moccasin wins for me. It was the first Cobra vehicle my parents bought me. I still remember coming home from K-Mart and studying the box-art on the drive home. It came with a figure, held 4-figs, detailed engine, and storage bins. Lots of bath tub adventures...poor Torpedo always got his ass kicked :-)

I voted for the C.L.A.W. because it was the first vehicle I received that year. I remember that it had the latest catalog in it and taking it to school. Everyone drooled over the new stuff in the pics. Man those were the days, pre-internet.

Another aspect of the C.L.A.W. is the play value. At the time I had limited Cobra troops, so when it was not used as Cobra Commanders personal craft, it would go on pilotless missions to drop its bomb and straff the joes. For being such a small aircraft, it was packed with details, you could adjust the wings, fold down the landing gear, pull open the access panel to the gun. It was truely amazing!

I wish Hasbro put that much thought in their new product. :-(
