word.

Wow, maturity may not come with age, which is a relief.

Why am I not shocked that JM agrees, lol.

Still, great quality as ever, Justin, definitely a fresh take on a familiar subject. What happened to the Hama mystique, every other day this guy is mentioned or talked to, it would be nice if someone else cared as much about the joe product.

Sig'd.

The more Larry says/writes the more I respect him. We couldn't ask for a better guy to be the "father" of GI Joe.

If GI Joe's dad says it's a fun movie then that's good enough for me. Kind of fits really I can watch the movie for two hours of fun then I've got Larry's new book for all the really deep stuff. So far it's been really cool getting to enjoy the new twists so sounds like the movie will be a fun new twist as well.

I find this a hard pill to swallow, not the movie, I think it'll be a fun ride. But the "Hama as a serious joe writer" I mean, I don't know his other work, but joe was never that serious in my mind, it couldn't be, you had accountants in bird suits, pogo death machines, and an orthodontist creating clone emperors. I just don't get why people try to make GI Joe so serious, I read the comics as a kid, and to a kid's brain, they were acceptable, but in no way do they stack up against "serious" military fiction. I know he was forced to work with what hasbro gave him, but even considering, the plots of the original comic were just kind of semi plausible, semi serious, again, perfect for a kid's brain.

Am I alone in this, I know Raptor's verse has a whole financial plan to fund joe and logistics planned out, but is that how everyone sees joe? Me, I think its hilarious that a freakin ninja is a main(or the main towards the end of the original line) character. A frickin ninja, and not a singular asset, either, there are tons of them, lol.

Don't get me wrong, it still cracks me up watching the cartoon, especially ideas like hiding rockets on the top of resteraunts and what not, but I dont' think joe is any more serious than archie or jughead.

The cartoon is entertaining. It was very consistent with its characters, which were well defined and featured a nice mix of personalities. It had a lot of fun moments. But when you pick up the comic after being exposed to the cartoon, military specialty actually mattering, storylines that progressed, and characters (mostly nameless Cobra soldiers) dying, the best word to describe it is serious. Sure, it had robots and laser soldiers and whatever else Hasbro released, but it usually justified these unrealistic elements.
