You know what I personally like is that people are getting really creative with their ideas and this is a 2 page topic.

I also appreciate the fact taht some people feel it will be a complete bust.

I hope that when some of you guys go to the Con you can ask them if it is at least feasible or whether the constraints mention here will make it completely impossible because it will fail.

Though I think in order to get some sort of answers it is important to ask concrete questions. (i.e. if you ask "is it possible?" they will just say "anything is." Whereas if you were to ask, " Is the reason we have not had an OG set yet because the planning folk believe it will not be sellable? Has the team considered the possibility and what conclusions did they draw?)

I realize of course they can still not answer, but it is important to ask in a specific way.

Honestly, I can't see what would be in it for Master Collector to do an Oktober Guard themed con set. Even painted differently, I don't think too many people would pay 5x retail for the comic pack figures they already bought at or below retail. Plus no army builders means less bagged set sales.

It's a sure fire money loser.

And if you think Master Collector is going to pony up the cash for a completely new sculpt Horrorshow to sell 1000 copies, I'm sorry, but you're deluding yourself. That's not the way things work.

The ONLY way I could see Master Collector doing something similar to what you're suggesting is if they were to include an Oktober Guard member here or there in future con sets or MAYBE a 3 or 4 pack to go with a larger theme.

Even then, I wouldn't expect to see the guys we've gotten in comic packs. More than likely Master Collector would go with new characters or others who haven't seen the light of day for quite some time.

Wong would be an almost shoo in. Use the Wild Bill V2 body with a different head and you're pretty close.

Big Bear would be my second Guess since many casual fans probably don't even know who he is. Paint his original mold with a realistic Russian camo of some sort.

Red Star done up similarly to the Big Bear above is another possibility.

Ruslan is a remote possibility, though he was pretty forgettable. Almost anything would work for him.

A surprise member could be Volga, revealed to NOT be Daina after all, but a former Soviet Olympic womans weightlifter and now the OG's vehicle driver/mechanic (OK I cheated a little. That's the bio I gave my Volga, because she sure aint Daina!). Use the 98 Volga Head, Jinx's torso, Pathfinder arms, and Jady Jaye waist and legs. Make her in a tan t-shirt with the same Russian camo on her fatigue pants.

I'm not trying to be a downer. I LOVE the Oktober Guard! But I really don't see Master Collector doing something different enough with the concept to justify an entire con set devoted just to them.

I had kind of kept out of this thread, because I didn't think I could add anything relevant to it, but I can honestly say that I would LOVE to have this set, especially if they came up with some ideas as good as some of DJ's or Rasputin's. I would buy this set over last years set, over the Dreadnok set, the mercenaries set, and would prefer this 100 times over the rumored Action Force set. No offense to our European bretheren, but I just don't Identify with Action Force; My favorite issue ever of the Marvel Comic run was Yearbook #2.

Has anyone ever asked the club if they might ever ask us what we'd like in future sets? It seems there's no middle ground with the sets, at least to me. They are either super win or epic fail.

Member voting (though i am not a member but would probably go out of my way to buy an OG set) seems like the most logical step IMHO

It wouldn't even have to preclude the surprise factor they insist on forcing on us; just keep the results to themselves until their reveal.

BINGO! (though of course they rig the results to give us another spirit repaint :monocle: though i am not complaining since C girl and Alex were cool. Heck i even kept that version of spirit.
