Well, I think I did all the possible polls for ARAH figures. I mean the polls I thought that were interesting to do, so now it's the vehicles' turn! I think I'll leave the battle stations and motorized action packs in the coming vehicle polls. I'm not sure about the HQ's and stuff and ofcourse you can discuss wether (for example) the JUMP or HAL is a vehicle or battle station. Ah well, you'll notice next week. Meanwhile, your thoughts about how to do these polls are welcome!

1982, no Cobra vehicles this year.
Let us know which vehicle you like best and please explain why!

I went with the RAM, mainly because it was my very first vehicle, plus, even after getting other vehicles, it was the one that saw the most action. It was perfectly kid-sized and the figure could quickly be removed for battle goodness.

I love the FLAK, but the VAMP is more useful, so it gets my vote.

I wish I could have voted for two, because I would've gone for the VAMP and the MOBAT. I picked the VAMP because I figured most people would go for the MOBAT. Seems I was wrong about that. :-/

The VAMP, in my opinion, showcased what G.I.Joe was all about -- MODERN Army action figures. The VAMP didn't look like a jeep out of World War II or M*A*S*H or anything, and yet it did look like a modern successor to the basic idea. And it's certainly been a vital part of the world of G.I.Joe ever since.

While the MOBAT is proportionately small for a tank, and was outsized by the Mauler and later vastly outsized by the Grizzly, I think it's important to remember that in 1982, no one knew if G.I.Joe was even going to work, which is doubtless why we got so many common body parts among the figures, and why the vehicles were somewhat limited.

Nevertheless, the MOBAT looks like a tank, the detail level on it is remarkable, and the method by which it turns on, goes forward or backward, and turns, based on the operation of the upper turret, is really very clever. I was pleased to see it brought back in the Target set.

P.S. - Like the idea of these vehicle polls!

RAM

mainly because it was the first vehicle I bought with my own money.

I remember walking into child world, and grabbing the motorcycle, I played the hell outta that toy.

...If I had to pick again as an adult, I would have probably picked the Vamp, but the memories of playing with that Motorcycle,......

I wnet with the JUMP because there is no way to improve it. The 25th VAMP, even the VAMP mk II and Stinger, showed there was room for improvement. The RAM si good, but again the 25th version showed there is some room for improvement. The JUMP is just as cool today as it was back in the day. You can't have GI Joe without jetpacks.

I didn't start playing with Joes until around 1984, so I didn't have the childhood connection to this series of toys like some of you do. When I finally did get my hands on some of these toys, the one I was probably most impressed with was the MMS. I liked the fold-down stabilizers and way the control computer was removable with removable stand. The fact that it reappeared with the highly coveted Sears HISS doesn't hurt its popularity in my book.

There's two ways to look at this: what I liked as a kid and what I like now.

Back in '82, my preference went VAMP, RAM, HAL. The VAMP took top spot because it could hold 2 figures better than the RAM could. The HAL was cool because you could tow it and it held it's own figure. While I had the MMS, it never did anything for me since there was no place to put Hawk.

As an adult, I prefer the JUMP, RAM and VAMP. Now, though, I look at vehicles based on their footprint and how well they display figures. The JUMP works with any figure from any era, doesn't take up much space and can have figures around it. The RAM is small and can still display 2 figures (provided the rider isn't wearing a pack). The VAMP takes a lesser role since it takes up more room, only holds 2 figures and they can't wear their packs while in it.

Regardless of time, I never liked the MOBAT (no play value) nor the FLAK since you couldn't tow it. The MMS and HAL are still fun to have around, but don't really fit into what I'm looking for in a collection these days. (Especially since you can get the red versions to represent the molds.)

VAMP all the way. When I think of Joe vehicles it's always one of the first to pop into my mind. It just defines Joe vehicle to me. Plus, Clutch rules.

Like the majority here, I voted for the Vamp. It was a cool little vehicle that could hold 2+ figures, you could race it accross the living room or accross the yard, it would go anywhere and everywhere, (my friend and I use to jump them out in the street, and one time off of his house, and they would keep going. :shifty: ) and like what has been mentioned, it felt like an upgraded Jeep with more armor and firepower. Plus the tow capability sealed the deel.

Even today I consider the Vamp the iconic vehicle of GI Joe, weather it is the orginal, mk II, or the 25th.
