has to be creating a Snake Eyes unmasked figure. While we have not gotten CC or Destro yet, there was Storm Shadow (I am not counting the pre-joe Snakes fig named Classified as it was before the mask was necessary.
How would you go about it? Would it be a simple release? An ultimate mail in of some sort? A con exclusive? Would it be just a few "sexy" looking scars, or the kind of grotesque crap that makes people go insane like in that one Edgar Poe story. Would kids go for it (I think so)? Would parents? (would they care about the backstory or say no if he was horribly disfigured).

Thoughts?

I really think this has to be in the making given the million versions of snakes we have.

My ultimate has a disfigured Scalpel head that i have taken from the wave 7 VaV body and transplanted to the 25th battle damaged body

To me Snake Eyes without a face is sort of pointless as I enjoy that individual feel to legendary characters even though SE is supposed to symbolize the faceless representation of good.

Anyway, I open the floor up for comments

I really thought that after the release of Storm Shadow unmasked, a Snake-Eyes unmasked would follow shortly. But alas, it wasn't t be.

I honestly think that a version with a few very noticable but not gory (NOT the bulging eye comic look) scars would be a big hit with kids and collectors alike.

However with the movie set to introduce a whole new crop of fans to GI Joe fans, I wouldn't expect Hasbro to give us one anytime soon. Got to keep it a mystery for those who don't already know afterall.

Unless he takes off his mask in the Movie. Then all bets are off.

You know, I would agree except for one kind of a bad trend I noticed with hollywood lately, where in they give the audience what they want earlier and earlier.

I saw that movie Taken last night with Liam Neeson and while good it seemed like all the "expected" scenes came a bit too quickly.

So I would not rule that happening (though I hope it does not and that they do hold out to at least if there are that many the third film) which would be a disappointment to those who are new, but expected and i guess the end result of expectation for us.

As I mentioned I don't consider the "Classified" figure an unmasked version because it was before the mask was necessary to cover the scars.

If you were talking about another version I may have overlooked I apologize.

agreed, a baby snake eyes wouldn't be unmasked either, thats how I look at any prequel sort of snake eyes, :)

WHat about snake fries, will his mask come off?

I've seen loads of tasteful customs hasbro could emulate.

I sort of like the mystery stuff so I'd likely skip the figure just like I skipped the comic book where Cobra Commander was unmasked. It would just be so hard to come up with a face that would really fit all the things that ran around in your imagination for years.

I'm pretty sure Ray Park isn't vain like most actors, so I'd think he'll leave the mask on. They have an unmasked Storm Shadow movie figure probably not due to it not really being out of the question for Storm Shadow to remove his mask, but because the actor most likely yanks the mask off as much as Tobey McGuire playing Spiderman. I figure we'll only see "Destro" 1 time wear the mask thanks to actors being so vain.

But on to the question, I'd rather just stick to the post-plastic surgery Snake Eyes. They could put out a pre-plastic surgery version too, and if they did I'd do it as a "The faces of Snake Eyes" set or something.

With the modern Ball joint neck I wouldn't mind seeing a mail away that comes with 3 current masks out, One rubber masked aviator glasses style, one freak with an eyelid missing version, and one sort of scarred but in a rugged action hero kind of way. Hell the mail away could be for those three heads since I have a ton of snake eyes bodies lying about the fodder bin.

We were kind of pondering this too. If given the current wonders in facial reconstruction that they have done (remember they reconstructed Mark Hamill's and other's face from a terrible car crash), that the comic face with the really Phantom of the Opera look wouldn't necessarily be needed, just a good dash of scars that might show a "work in progress" feel. Kind of like that actor in many of the movies(Gladiator, Sin City, Braveheart) who has a "telephone" scar from ear to mouth.

But I agree with the movie issue. To keep the mystique, they'll keep him the masked man for as long as their will be fandom.

My custom Snakes I did just had two scars, but it got it across. Just have one across the left eye and cheek and another somewhere by the mouth.
