I placed this book in my wish list on Amazon back in early December and didn't feel ready at the time to pop $20 on a book I didn't have the chance to check out on hand first.

I asked on here and a few of you told me it was a great book and a handy reference guide.

Well, on the 28th I happened to check out my account and noticed the book was marked down to $10, and the seller was cds-store.

I ordered it and the expected shipping estimate was for February 4th-February 20th.

Today I go to get the mail and discover I have one of the "You got a package" cards in the box.

I go up to the counter to get the package and was surprised to see the return address was for SmallJoes.

I heft the package in my hand, curious as to why SmallJoes would be sending something to me, since I hadn't placed an order with them in a long time.

I open it up and discover the above mentioned book.

I am amazed that here it is the 2nd of February and I got the book already. I already left feedback on Amazon, but I guess I can mention here I am very pleased with SmallJoes for getting me this out to me so quick.

I have been looking through the book and it really is informative. I never had the chance to see GIJOE on TV when it aired, so I missed out on a lot of the action. The only real episodes I've seen have been on the various VHS tapes (oversized cardboard boxes in the foam tray), a used copy of the Serpentor origin, a few of the DIC VHS tapes, the DVD set with Duke fighting the giant slave (Ramar?), the movie on VHS, and two of the DVDs from the figure sets.

My only beef is that I haven't really seen any mention of the background 'greenshirts' that were on screen. I still am looking for decent screen caps that show any of the unnamed GIJOE support characters and other GIJOE personnel with alternate uniform colors (gray Breaker, etc) so I can come up with some custom ideas.

I'm sure there are other sites available, but veoh.com has full length episodes of G.I. Joe and Transformers, along with about any other tv show you can think of, you can either watch them you tube style or download them to your computer...I can't remember what board I saw the address from but I've watched a lot of GI Joe and Transformers since then :-D

As for the book, I hate that he calls the Fred series Fred Smith instead of Fred Broca

While inaccurate over the long haul, yes, the first reference to that edition of the Crimson Guards, which indeed was the intro of the Crimson Guards, did have Cobra Commander referring to the man as "Smith".

I know. I forgot to mention that in my first post :-)

Yeah, I got both of those links, but I haven't really had a lot of time to go through each listing to find pics of unnamed background characters.

I just saw a new type of Cobra Trooper recently on one of the DVDs I've gotten. I guess we could call them Cobra Subway Troops, 'cause Snake-Eyes and Shipwreck (along with Timber and Polly) discover them while infilitrating a Cobra base. Nice color uniforms, black highlights...

I just call them 'Fred Series' and figured they would have different last names. I have a Fred called 'Fred Norris' who is a CG who due to a medical injury couldn't go on field missions anymore. Instead of being a CPA or Lawyer, he was a music executive and the Crimson Twins put him in charge of the Dreadnok Roadhouse houseband 'Cold Slither' as their band manager and tour manager... (basically an 'evil' version of Tom Hanks' character from 'That Thing You Do')

I just re

That's Eric 'Fred' Norris ;-)

I've attached a pic of the DiC version of greenshirts: orangeshirts with purple helmets 8-O :shifty:
(yes it's pic of a TV screen, but they look just as bad in person) :monocle:

OK, so I stole...borrowed some elements and tweaked them... :)

Even so, these are the type of background character pics I'm looking for. Thanx for posting it.
