Firefly is interesting because it looks significantly different from the previous versions. Snake-Eyes comes with the nice rework of Timber, even if it appears almost manga.
The rest of these figures have some nice tweaks, such as the detail on Flint's shotgun shells or the spore canister of the BAT. However, they're still too close to the original figures (take that as either ARAH or 25A versions) to justify being made.
Remember the drastically different repaints of characters that the MASK toy line did? That's what Hasbro needs to try here. If we're going to get another Flint, another Snake-Eyes, another Storm Shadow, the very least Hasbro could have done was cut loose on the color schemes. Flint or Beachhead in "coffee stain" desert camo, the BAT in a Cobra blue uniform, Zartan in some all-metallic crazy color scheme.
Sure, these are special "Hall of Heroes!!!" with gold battle stands!! Whatever. Wasn't the initial point of the 25A figures that they were also special anniversary figures?
I like that the BAT is the same colors since that means I can just put him in with the rest of the BATs I have instead of building a whole new squad. It does sort of hurt the Crimson Guard pack because why should I shell out extra for him when the comic book pack is still clogging the local shelves and I'd get a trooper with him as well for the same price or cheaper.
I think you are right though something bigger with some color changes would have given us more reasons to pick up these packs.
