This week's profile is the 2008 Convention exclusive Headhunter Driver figure. He's tough to find, rather expensive and really not all that different from the 1992 figure that costs about 1/7 as much. But, the figure still has some use, even if it really shows the unrealized potential of the Headhunter mold.

Enjoy!

I think this figure is great. The black uniform, the dark green trim, and I think the Club came up with a VERY interesting insignia. Granted I've always liked the basic HeadHunter figure design.

While the club generally gets a lot of props for painting every buckle and bump, I'm not sure that I can fully get behind it with this figure.

I hate the "rhinestone" look where a bump is painted a shiny or metallic color for what appears to be no reason whatsoever. While I agree that additional paint apps that highlight unpainted detail can give a fresh look to the figure, it should make sense to the figure. I can't really understand why you'd want a figure 8 of shiny gold studs on the side of your leather pants.

The original Headhunter figures were very cool. The brown popped against the black. The blue added character. The gold faceplate looked clean.

The green doesn't pop. The details look like needless ornamentation. It doesn't work, despite a sound idea and a clean execution. Some colors just don't work together, and some details don't benefit the whole by drawing attention to themselves. Improving on a good figure seems to be a lot harder than improving on a bad one.

I love this figure, I think the whole set is great. This figure though is one more reason why I am glad I attended the Con last year.
