This week's profile is of the Funskool General Hawk figure first released in 2001. This isn't a great figure, but it has its uses and can have some value to a collection. Plus, he's got a bright variant. So, there's that....

Enjoy!

Every single one of this figure that I have ever seen has had unbearbly horrible paint apps - I mean even for Funskool figures.

I believe that this mold and the Law V1 mold are not well defined enough to take the paint well in the way that Funskool applies it.

It's unfortunate, as the silver on the head would be an interesting paint ap that would make the figure a great unique character. Sadly, when it looks that bad, I can't put it beside other joes, including other funskool joes, without it looking horrible.

Aye, great opportunity executed horribly.

The worse part is the eyes....two black dots. I can't help but look at the figure and see a cartoon character.

I've always liked this figure's mold. Maybe not as Hawk, but then again, you can always swap heads with your favourite figure of choice. As a kid, it's the perfect figure to pack with you on trip. He can fly and is armed for any adventure you can think up. Personally, I buy up as many of the jet-packs as I can possibly find. That jet-pack makes a great upgrade to the JUMP.

The Funskool release is odd, but it still rounds out a collection.

I never noticed all of the silver parts before, because, as mentioned, I couldn't see past the bad paint apps

I love this mold. I've never used him for hawk though, the initial 91 became my Starduster with some black paint to the hair. Then I traded away my actual starduster for an Alley viper and a night viper... and a goldhead steal brigade, who knew childhood me was such a shrewd businessman.

good review mike i never realized the differences in my funskool hawks was on purpose.

This is one of the few funskool figures I own and indeed it did sour me on them. I bought him because I wanted to round out the Oktober guard roster and thought the green/silver/orange would make a believable enough cosmonaut. Mine had frozen joints and was missing a missile and the face piece MOC. Since I picked up a mail away version of Hawk this one is sitting in my fodder bin, he pack and gun still see action though and are pretty decent quality.

Yet another great profile, as always. I actually enjoy this figure, granted the paint apps are bad but there is something about the colors that just get me. Stupid neon's.
