I've long subscribed to this theory as well. Call me a Cobra sympathizer, I've always seen CC as an idealist revolutionary battling perceived corruption, until he himself was corrupted by greed and power. At the same time I can see enough of an old world/European influence in his heirarchy which would relegate minorities to the battlefield or support roles only. He has no problem using them, but not rewarding them. Hence the black Blueshirt made much more sense to me than the black CG. (I still don't have the black CG though, having passed on the OCS set).
I'd still like to see a black Viper one day though, both in 25th and RAH style.
ineresting.
although I would probably disagree with the "minorities on the battlefield". I think Cobra COmmander would utilize anyone who was worthy and qualified enough to fill a role or could be manipulated. If you statistically look at the unemployed or disenfranchised, whites actually make up more of the list than minorties. however, if you statistically look at criminals in or have been through the Court system, then Minorities make up the list. This may reflect moreso on more blue collar Cobra associates being Soldiers or Behind the scenes technicians, whereas the more Educated or experienced associates would be white collar, and used in sensitive areas.
However, contrary to this. I could see people like the Black Panthers, Nation of Islam, Militias, KKK, Street Gangs, ex-cons who cant get employed, all somehow being duped to work for Cobra in some faction to try to bring down the country, whereas some of these aformentioned groops would be recruited allheartedly into cobra directly. SOme wouldnt work in CObra, as you would figure their own Idealogy would be contrary to Cobra (probably the reason guys like Wingfield were manipulated, but not used directly)
The More skilled individuals would become Techno vipers, Tele Vipers, or Cobra Officers, whereas the more educated or skilled would become CGs, Specialty soldiers, or pilots. Specialist mercenaries would be recruited based off skill and reputation (which would explain Storm Shadow, Firefly, Scrap Iron, Copperhead, WIld Weasel, and Major Bludd)
This is one of the reasons why I am puzzled we don't see more Minority Tele-Vipers, as you would figure those with eletrical or broadcasting backgrounds would be recruited, or Minority Drivers or Techno vipers, as mechanics (although you never know with all the funky helmets motor vipers have.)
