A lot of the Hasbro lines seemed to share a connected universe, though I can't seem to recall off the top of my head, was Hector Ramirez also a reporter in another Sunbow/Hasbro show? Inhumanoids?

Hector appeared on Inhumanoids, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Jem.

So, you see, it's all part of one big happy universe.

... So now can we get some new Inhumanoids figures? And maybe a Jem?

I thought including Trakker was a fantastic idea, and I fully support all such ideas in the future. The line can't rely on simply remaking existing figures from 20+ years ago. I enjoy seeing new additions and existing characters in new outfits. Some of the additions are predictable enough to be groan worthy, such as Satan & Ninja-Ku, but others like Cobra Flint, Pilot Scarlett, Arctic SE, Wraith and of course Trakker, are new enough to keep things interesting.

As for new Joe characters, I still want to see some more '88-'94 guys like Recoil, Repeater, Longarm, Psyche-Out, Sci-Fi V2 and Cesspool to get made, and I also really want some of the characters introduced during the new-sculpt run to get do-overs. Bring on Crosshair, Hacker, Neo-Vipers, Razorclaw, Hard Drive, Red Spot and the rest in 25A.

As for expanded universe, I think Hasbro has a great figure format on their hands here and I want to see as many characters as possible in this style, not necessarily allied with GI Joe or Cobra. I want Miles Mayhem, Solid Snake, Vulcan Raven, the Ghostbusters, the A-Team, Transformers cartoon humans, TF Movie Sector 7 Commandos, even some civilians would be nice, including scientists for Cobra to kidnap. I'll even take Jem. Michael Knight to drive my 1:18 KITT would be nice too, but Im dreaming.

Personally, I am all for anything that adds to the number of in scale, shared construction figures, accessories and vehicles. I am much more into customization personally, and I would love to see other original figures, or other licenses added in to the same mix. I already buy IJ figs, SW figs, and other companies' products specifically to use their parts for 25th based customs. So I certainly would buy them and enjoy them more if less work was required to convert them.

I don't think they need to be part of a Joe line, for my tastes though. For me, if Hasbro made each of their licenses, SW, IJ, Joe, Mask, Marvel, all in the same basic format, I'd love it. Indiana Jones would never be a Joe. But I'd buy the hell out of him if he were made in the same scale and type as the 25th figures, much more than I have in his unique form.

I think Hasbro should go all Mego on us, and get as many different licenses and characters as possible, make them in this format, and still sell them under different lines.

I have been reading this thread with interest. There seems to be a very loose definition of Expanded Universe sometimes. With Star Wars it is quite easy. Anything produced by Lucasfilms, the six movies and Clone Wars cartoons, should be considered canon. Books, comics, etc are expanded universe, as they often contradict what has been shown on screen.

With GI Joe, as far as I am concerned, the original Marvel series, the 155 issues and special missions, plus the Image/Devil's Due continuation are canon. The cartoon and upcoming movie are expanded universe as they are based on the characters and organisations originally portrayed in the comic.

So, how do you fit in that some of the Devil's due stuff is based much more on the cartoon than the previous comics?

Man, I really can't wait for this notion to wear away. There's just no need to "fit" anything. The Devil's Due continuity clearly follows the Marvel comic, and does not contradict story. Just because characters from the cartoon were added into the mix does not magically change the Marvel run or anything.

Sparks was a retcon, despite being a cartoon character, his addition to the team is explained... pains were taken to make him a "secret" member in the early days. Hector Ramirez is a reporter (he doesn't even need an explanation. If it were a reporter by any other name, there'd be no complain from anti-DDp/cartoon folks). Focusing on Shipwreck doesn't change anything. It just means a less prominent member of the team got pushed to the A-list. Greenshirts? Explained as a new thing. The Joes being public knowledge? Hama did that in Marvel #78, when the Joes are arrested after the Cobra Civil War... a news reporter *on public TV* talks about the GIJoe team as if they were a rock band!

So what, exactly, needs to be "fit in"? The tone of the series was different, yes. It was simpler, some of the storyline swere rank amatuer stinkburgers, and not every choice Blaylock made was a good one (only a few were "decent"), but the fact is he kept to continuity for the most part (hey, even Hama contradicted himself once in a while).

I'd like a Professor Appel fig, but done right (FAT Crimson Guard mold).

I find myself less interested in Overkill, the concept is ludicrous. He'd take control of Cobra easily with an army of BATS. Cobra Commander, Serpentor, Destro… whoever is in control would never allow cannon fodder to become players in the political aspect of Cobra.

I think in some ways, Hasbro went really cheap on the DVD toon packs. Where was Satin? Selena, Ramar? Honda Lou? Ho hum. Ho hum. Instead, more Snake Eyes, CC repaints.

I'd love a Hector Ramirez. He actually connects GIJoe and the Jem and the Holograms.

Pythona is a must. Lt. Stone as well.

My feelings is, expand upon the pool of characters they have in GIJoe already. I don't want MASK taking more slots in the line.

Poor Hector Ramirez, he's right at the top of my list of figures I really want but that we will likely never ever see a figure of.

It's sort of funny that Sgt. Savage was brought up as a suggestion for the 25th anniversary stuff as I've mentioned the same thing in my article for the up coming November issue of the Joe Canuck news letter. I don't want to get ahead of myself before the news letter goes live so I'll leave my comments at that.

Great minds think alike.
