Yeah, the design is great, but the scale is a nightmare (although I rather like J-Man's explanation for it). It was supposed to be part of the Flying Fighters line, which wasn't especially close. I'm pretty sure what we had here was a case of the molds being ready and Hasbro not wanting to waste them. Economically it makes sense, but the final result --
One sort of finds oneself making bad jokes to justify the size problem.
"I know they said Pentagon budget talks meant we were going to get scaled down, but come on, already..."
"All the capabilities of an Apache with 2/3 the target profile -- and it sounded so good on paper!"
"Maybe if I dressed as a clown I could fit into this thing better..."
"No, the crowbar isn't to lift the canopy if it doesn't raise on its own, it's to pry yourself out of the cockpit seat after you land..."
"Well, great, I just fired my entire complement of missiles, and all I did was bump the console with my elbow."
"Everybody else gets to land on the USS Flagg. What do I have to do? Aim for the Devilfish..."
