All of these recent Best of the Best threads have gotten me thinging about some of the cooler vehicles out there, and some of my most favorite lately have been the ones that I never even heard of as a kid, and since I entered junior hight in 1987, there were a LOT of gems that I missed out on, like the Bugg and the Hiss 2. One of the ones that I've really fallen in love with though has been the Earthquake. I know that there is a lot that doesn't make sense in that statement, but it's true. I love that little Earthmover and all it's wacky colors. My wife got me an open box unasembled Earthquake a couple of years ago. I had a good old time putting it together old school style, paper stickers and all. The colors may not be practical from a combat perspective, but I really don't think that they need to. It's a support vehicle used by the Cobra Engineering Corps to prep a beachead or dig in some trenches and what not. Sure, it does have some armaments for when it needs it, and even some light artillery in the mortar things in the back. And it looks super cool when it's covered in Techno Vipers. :D

If you have any favorites that you've really taken a liking to as an adult, I want to hear about them!

:D

I had the BUGG as a kid, and even though the colors bugged me even back then, it did always manage to work its way into regular play. The fact that it was amphibous was cool too, so it wasnt limited to water. The jet skis and sub were an awesome bonus, as was the back and side hatches. Also, the size of the missiles on that sucker made it a formidable foe!

I've always liked the Earthquake. It's been one of my favorites for years. The colors suck, but the concept actually is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind seeing that one remade and done in good colors.

since the cats out of the bag, the recent "CFB" threads have been to gage peoples opinions on vehicles I didnt own, or were mentioned at the last Con meeting (You beat me to the punch with the earthquake)

well,.. I recently bought the Thunderclap, Mean Dog, and the Brawler. and The Mean Dog is easietly the best of the three, So much play value, It holds 5 figures (something a lot of vehicles cant boast) and can actually split into three components... its actually fun. and my son is jealous that the Thunderclap rivals the Target Missile launcher I bought him.

as for the Earthqquake, I never saw one,... other than in the catalogue. How is it by size? does the colors really blind you, or are acceptible (or customizable) How many figures does it hold (pegs notwithsatnding)

...and yes, Zombie, the Bugg is a great Vehicle!!!! I always figured the Bugg was an EEL vehicle, while the Hammerhead was more of an Undertow/ Hydro Viper vehicle.

The Earthquake has horrendous colors but I've seen customized ones that were fantastic. Based on that alone, I echo Sputnik's praise of it. The colors caused me to dismiss it but once that wasn't a problem it's great.

Well I don't mind the colors at all, but I would say that it would take some spray piant pretty decently, if you are so inclined. It's a pretty good size too - a bit bigger than I expected anyway. I was going to break it out and take a few pics this weekend if I get a chance, so you can see the scale on it then, unless someone beats me to it.

The Bugg is also a new favorite, and I even like the colors. A lot of great play value jammed into that thing, though it can be a tad on the fragile side in a couple of spots. I just wish it was easier to complete the Secto Viper.

Lance if you decide to paint the Earthquake I saw http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/showima ... chid=32283 over on JoeDios and thought it was a great color for it.

One I've been thinking of getting that I've never owned is the Havoc. The more I read my old comics the more I'm wanting to get one. That and the Hurricane.

Now THATS an Earthwquake I can sink my teeth into!!!!

yes The Havoc is a Great Vehicle, tons of play value and looks good in a diorama. I have three Havocs and 3 Hurricanes.

people have complained that finding canopys are ilmost impossible to get, but Joecons are a goldmine, the last two joecons I found canopies to two zhurricanes, 3 firebats, and 2 tomahawks. (still selling a firebat canopy if anyone's interested)

I never knew the Bugg or Condor existed until 2001 when I moved here the first time. I spotted the Bugg at a comic shop here, and while not complete, I thought it still had some potential. The Condor was actually given to me by a guy I became friends with here. It was in a huge box of vehicles and figures.

The Shark 9000 and the Avalanche were vehicles I dismissed as a kid and didn't get a hold of until the past couple of years. Those vehicels have a ton of play value and accessories but are hampered by being released so late in the line. The Shark in particular is flat out awesome and should be a highly desirable boat but people see the neon pink and don't think twice about it. I know I did.

I love the Earthquake. It killed me to cut mine up for this custom, but I really wanted to make the custom, and my joe room is too full to accommodate a second one.

My discoveries? The Monster Blaster APC, the Ghost Striker (I think TC still has my original Ghost Striker that I sold as part of my effort to raise money for my wife's engagement ring...thankfully a) I didn't regret that sale and b) I found another ghost striker at a thrift store awhile back for like $5), and most of all, the Toxo-Lab. Yes, the Toxo-Lab, probably the most underrated playset of all time. I'll admit that I wouldn't have bought it normally, but someone offered me one complete (absolutely complete and damn near pristine) for $10 shipped. The thing is awesome. And I even like the colors. Looks even better surrounded by Septic Tanks and crawling with Heavy Waters and Sludge Vipers.

I realized the potential (and neccessity) of the Earthquake a few years ago while playing C&C: Generals, although I always wanted one since it first came out. When I finally got one about two years ago, I repainted it in more "traditional" Cobra colors:

The BUGG was also something I only got last year which turned out to be surprisingly fun! :-)

naw, i could dismiss the pink colors. I have two of them (just got a second today) and I think it was a cool addition to the D.E.F. It functions as a perfecr Coast Guard Interceptor, and modified and painted, could serve as an escort to the whale.
