Back in 2001 Hasbro produced a crappy Zartan that left fans wanting more. By coincidence, Funskool released a Zartan at the same time that was both disappointing and well received. But, it's a figure that has found some use in my collection.

Enjoy!

Cool review, I've always assumed that both the mask and hood were made out of rigid plastic to be the disguise, and he wasn't to wear it when not playing dress up. I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention that this Zartan's got better paint applications than the Hasbro version (aside from the face paint)

I liked that we finally got a v1 Zartan that could be taken apart easily. Too bad about the head, hood and mask

I was really excited when this came out, as I had never owned a Zartan to that point. The closest that I got was a broken crotch armorless one, that I somehow modified to be wearing jeans. I can't remember being mor disappointed by a figure. The eye pait was horrible. The parts didn't fit. Everything felt flimsy.

Not even your review could make me like the figure. It's poorly painted, and strangely designed. Yours may be the only one that can actually keep it's chest and leg armor in without significant modification and or glue.

Which is sad, as the chest with removable chest armor could be reused in interesting ways if the flesh colored chest was painted to look like a shirt.

I did like the observations about how the core characters were kept similar to US releases, and the others were getting the creative Funskool treatment.

Considering Hasbro's attempt in 2001 of remaking Zartan I'll take the Funskool version every time. The comic pack that fixed the problem I had with the original's hood is far superior and if it had the color change ability would even surpass the original.

If the Club had released the v.1 Zartan in all clear plastic as the exclusive I'd own that version too. But they didn't and it represents an oppertunity lost.
