Yeah, I'm at that point right now. I don't have it in me to sell much off, but it is motivating me to actually start using all the fodder I've accumulated and to cut back on future purchases. Dropped my order on the 'net exclusive Desert and Arctic sets to one of each, and I'm not sure if I'm going to buy any more RAM/Trubble Bubble packs like I'd planned (well, maybe one, but only because the new RAM is so superior, and my custom Quarrel needs a ride). Between space and money, it's tough to spend much right now. Also, I haven't added anything to my ARAH collection (mostly just need vehicles at this point to "finish" it) since probably the Atlanta con. Plus, I'm trying to sell or trade off my unwanted items (mostly in the ML vein) rather than sitting on them endlessly with the idea I could use them for parts.

That's what happened to me and that's why i am selling off my collection, i had waaaaay to much, now that i'm selling it, it doesn't bother me as much as i thought it would, it also helps others fill in the gaps with their collection and helps me raise money for what i really want and to pay some bills. :-P

Amen. I've had a lot going on in the past year with my son and his medical expenses. Having to get rid of a bunch, but my family is more important.

Well, i've been storing up stuff for years now, frustrated with a lack of display space. Now some space has opened up and i've been making use of it.

With a collection the size of mine, you expect to lose track of some stuff, at least temporarily. But among my MIAs are about 12-15 painted customs that i would desperately like to find. That's my main problem with the size its achieved currently.

Thanks guys for your opinions.

I asked this because My own collecton,... is starting to reach into my son's toys. I have now bought a Battle Droid and Lanard Corps army for my son. Between the two of us we now have enought figures and Vehicles to re-inact Black Hawk Down.

I originally began re-collecting to rebuy all the stuff My ex-fiancee threw out when we broke up in 2000...

but now, I have 80% of that back,.. plus everything thats come out since then, bringing my Collection to four times the size it was since then.

so,.. where to I stop!?

I am butting right up against too much, I think. Holding off on any more army builders and new 25th-sculpt Joes as long as I can. (but I still have a couple of cases and the DVD packs on order!)

No more vehicles. I would love to add the Whale, TerrorDrome or Hydrofoil to my collection, but until I have shelves built, no chance! Too big!!! Still, if I find a new Firebat or some of the others running around, they're going to get a strong consider. (I have problems!!)

Got a kid on the way next year. We live in a three-bedroom and that kid's going to need stuff, so all my toys have to fit in my office closet (with my clothes!)

Fortunately I'm really strict about only collecting what I absolutely MUST have.

I go through this every so often and usually refine my collection and wants (eg. 1:18 only, articulated figures only, etc.). In the long run, it doesn't help. I still have a lot of stuff.

When you think you are running out of space for Joes, consider the poor guy who collects Joes, Transformers and Star Wars. :shifty:

I used to collect SW, but the prequels drove me away, so I don't bother with that much anymore outside of the occasional figure. I do have a sizable existing 90s collection though. As with Joe, its the vehicles that kill all the space. I actually sold off a ton of obsolete figures and obscure characters last year. I'm considering unloading the vehicles. Even if one only collects SW, I have no idea how on earth completists in that hobby do it.

I am a huge Transformers collector. And since they ARE vehicles, they take up a LOT of room, even loose. Add to that the fact they are all oddly sized, have things sticking out of them, are fragile, etc and you can imagine how difficult they are to store. I have most of them boxed up and even then they take up almost the whole closet. And I'm not even close to completist. I only collect the first two years of G1, Classics, Movie, and certain figures from other modern lines who mix well with those. I only have a handful of Beast Wars/Machines and am skipping Animated. I have fire sales occasionally, and am planning another one soon.

With Joe I have 3 large boxes full of loose figures, and again the vehicles take up all the space. Definately need to lighten the Joe load too, in light of all the 25th goodness coming in.

Overall I have way too many toys and need to severely cut back for my own sanity. Its just too much to keep track of at this point, I no longer have the time for customs, and cant even remember what I have in many cases. I barely appreciate any one figure, as I spend too much attention on managing the whole collection.
