so, quick question: what's the normal amount of stuff to keep in your pile of loot before getting it shipped?

//i've got stuff in there from May...

I think its all based on when you think its enough to justify shipping. Since they charge you for it when you add it I imagine they'd keep it forever. Personally I don't use the Pile O' Loot (too impatient) but I can see the appeal.

Hmmm I was thinking of doing this. They've got Crystal Skull Indy on sale & I would pre-order the Joe environment sets.
However this...

Non-preorder items will be charged to your card as they are added to the P.o.L.

bothers me. Essentially you've been paying interest or have already paid for something you don't have yet.

I've got stuff in there from the Jan/Feb clearance sales, and possibly... from earlier than that... :shifty:

Maybe it's time I got that stuff shipped...

The pile of loot is like having items you've paid for stored for free to save on shipping. For all the people who complain about online shipping costs this should be a godsend. Yes, you have to pay for them at purchase like any in stock order, but you save a bundle on shipping. You can also use it with preorders, so they automatically join your pile when they come in and are charged.

Instead of paying the base rate plus weight for multiple smaller orders, you pay one base rate plus weight for fewer shipments. Ultimately, it can save a LOT of money on shipping costs. For example, the base rate for any UPS shipment seems to be around $15. If you ordered threee figures seperately and had them shipped immediately, you'd pay $15 plus actual weight for each, bringing the shipping total to more than $50. With pile of loot, you'd hold all three figures and pay shipping on the base rate plus actual wieght for 3 which would be closer to $17. Those numbers are just rough (and high) examples, but should give you an idea of the potential savings.

Unless you're an impulse buyer, or someone looking for the immediate rush of buying a toy, Pile of Loot is all good. Combined with purchasing during BBTS sales, you can buy a lot of good product for quite a bit less than retail.

It's a great deal and an incentive to buy more if you're patient. I've used this many times (just had three 30 lb boxes delivered to me) and it's gone flawlessly every time.

Your mailman must really like delivering to your place. :D (Or UPS or whatever...)

it's came in helpful for me when i was preordering stuff & getting ready to move. and also got some stuff on clearance and didn't feel like it was worth paying more for it to ship...might wait it out and just make it into a big birthdya present in nov.

Heh... Between all the deliveries of work supplies and the personal boxes that come in, UPS and USPS know me really well. It's pretty cool, since they look out for the stuff and go the extra mile if there's any issue. I had a problem with Hasbrotoyshop regarding an address error and was able to work things out with my local Post Office before it became a problem. Those gals and guys do a great job where I live, along with UPS. Very cool delivery and office personnel with both agencies.

Beside if you can't lift a few 30lb boxes, you shouldn't be delivering parcels...or collecting toys :)
