I've never cared for the original design in the first place, but this is pissing on the wheels of progress.

Plus, I'm bias for Deep Six v2 and it's strange repaint in 1993, that was far cooler that the bulky dive armor. and THAT needs a 25th Anniversary version IMO. (I'm dreaming, yeah, I know)

Is there ANY leg articulation? Does the helmet come off??

IF the answers are "yes," this Deep Six is fine by me.

He has knee articulation, but nothing else. No word on the helmet yet.

D6 sure needs an update though. He removes the action in action figure :shifty:

Does that mean he's a doll?

;)

Avac looks awesome! Even if he doesn't come with his accessories I'll still be pretty happy. I'm going to guess that he probably won't come with the parachute (please prove me wrong Hasbro) based on the comment regading Steeler's helmet scope. Oh wait, didn't they say the reason we weren't getting that is because it was 2 figures and 2 vehicles for 14.99? Okay so maybe my reasoning is off base. Here's hoping we get that parachute!

Deep Six looks pretty cool. Sure he has next to no articulation, but its a great representation of the V1 figure. I never had a Deep Six figure so I'll definitely be after this one. I may even shoot for 2 so I can pop that head off and make a custom that resembles the V2 mold of D6. I'm sure i won't be the only person doing that......

See, I don't think it's any better of a representation of the character than v1 actually was. They didn't make the design any better, they just did it... again. This figure is just as useless as the first one was and is totally unecessary, as is another repaint of the Sharc. Happy to pass on this one.

I agree on the Deep Six comments. This makes zero sense to me. Zero. Yeah, he's got knee articulation, great. But no hips? What good is moving his knees if you can't move his hips?

Elbow joints and wrists? Cool... but still swivel shoulders? Bleh.

What really kills me is that they spent tooling dollars to retool the absolute worst figure in the line's 25 year history, meanwhile a core character like Major Bludd gets the short stick in several different aspects. Bummer.

Amen. If he had hip articulation it could save it for me. Heck, he doesn't have the articulation of Armortech. We should have at least gotten that (how hard is it to add 4 more joints)

Not only do I not like Deep Six but I feel they really missed the boat on improving him. Could you imagine if they had turned Deep Six's dive suit into a SNAKE Armor type suit that you put over a regular ship deck Deep Six figure? They coudl ahve paid tribute to the original but also upped the anit so to speak. Giving the suit limited articulation wouldn't have been as bad in that instance. Plus they could have used existing tooling to make the actual 25th styled Deep Six figure and then reused most of the dive suit to make us a SNAKE Armor later. As it is I just don't understand this one.

Wait... They've retooled Ninja Force Scarlett?!

Seriously, I liked D6 originally, but mainly because of his gimmick. If this version had a bit more articulation, I wouldn't even mind him. Personally, like Pluv said, I think they should've made the suit snap onto a regular figure, so that we could get D6 the sailor-man, D6 the diver, and, with a little bit of creativity in the design of the suit, making parts of it modular, a new SNAKE. I mean, they could've tooled it so that certain bits snapped on to a base suit, then instead of a clear dome, have the classic SNAKE head snap in place of the dome. This would've also allowed them to cheat on the arms, and have a regular figure inside, arms folded or to his side, with the fake arms on the outside with limited articulation.
Actually, thinking about it and assuming they'd just reuse Shippy for the inner body, they could've done this for about the same cost in tooling, with only a little more required in materials and mold time. Drop the SHARC and make him a new price point of something like 10.99, then release a red sigil trooper with the SNAKE for the same price utilizing most of the mold again.

Isn't a Deep Six listed on one of the Wal-Mart lists for a comic pack? Betting that'll be the sailor suit version.

And all they would have had to do to please me with this one would have been to give him any hip articulation at all, in addition to the improvements they made. Since the whole piece is new molds anyway (it'd have to be, since they added articulation in the middle of what were solid pieces) it just flabbergasts me that they didn't do more. Hip joints would have required some work, but ball jointed shoulders, even ones with limited movement would have been fine, could have been done easily. And his head sculpt doesn't exactly work for me. I want the droopy, dead eyed look from his first few comic appearances. This just doesn't look like a guy who'd leave Wild Bill hanging on a handshake because he doesn't care about social graces. Still, I'll get one for parts. Stupid Hasbro.

Predication Time
I predict that Deep Six & the Shark will be the vehicle peg warmer of the line. Lack of articulation + already released in 25th form vehicle + odd vehicle cockpit = Toy stores won't be ordering more Joe until they sell them all. AVAC & Fire bat will be flying off the shelves.

I don't know about the Sharcs warming pegs. Maybe they will due to the reasons you mentioned, but I never saw the Target vehicles on the shelves in my area. I got mine by calling in and having them pulled from the back room. I'm sure they were put out at one point, but they didn't last very long if they were. I always thought the Sharc was a cool looking vehicle. The cockpit is a little different, but that's one of the things that made it cool IMO.
