Of course, that assumes that the MC's set numbers are: 1. accurrate and 2. all inclusive of all the figures produced. ;) But, yes, in terms of production numbers, con figures are always among the rarest in the line.

I think the lowered number has everything to do with the fact that the boxed sets haven't sold out since 2002. There just aren't enough people really interested in them to sustain those production numbers. Which, doesn't speak to the popularity of this hobby when you compare it to ~20K numbers for Star Wars exclusives which sell out on the convention floor.

Do you not think that MC's price has any role? I think that if MC did exclusives similar to what SW does, you would see the MC exclusives sell like hotcakes. SW exclusives don't run $300, like, EVER. I think that if MC's prices were cheaper from the get go, they would sell out every time, because even with 25A, I think the demand is still there. IMO

I agree its not the # produced its the PRICE. And they are RAISING the price again this yr. This is the stuff that keeps me from EVER joining the club. Plus their limited # is BS. Thats why you can buy figs from Midnite Chinese dealers on ebay and such and yet there are less than 1000 produced. :shifty: Who do they REALLY think they are kidding. I agree with Lance that if they lowered thier prices and put customers first then they'd sell out every time.

I have to agree with the point about cost. Look at the Joe Canuck figures every year. They sell out every year and go for a lot on the the second hand market yet only cost $25.00. Yes production is very low but they are really custom figures at the end of the day. The plus to the Canadian Joe convention is it's affordable. Even if there were 100 figures each year or more I think it's safe to say they would sell out (a few hundred people showed up last year and I'm sure internet sales would help as well).

That should be a poll. If you could get a MC quality 15 figure set for $100.00 (with package), would you buy it? Would you buy it for $150.00 ($10.00 a figure). What is the cut off point?

Also, if the MC group made only one figure, what is it worth to you? $10.00? $15.00? $20.00? etc...

My only real reason for getting this set is because I'm going to the convention. I've pretty much decided that unless it's a set I really really want, I'll only get the set if I actually go. I don't have the want to order a set if I don't go.

Per MC's newsletter, June 2008 p11 (the catalog page):

2005 boxed set (MARS): LE 750, 77 left
2006 boxed set (Cobra's most wanted): LE 750, 48 left
2006 Renegades: LE 1000, 35 left

Some more food for thought regarding production runs.

Every wonder how there seems to be an endless supply of them? They are on ebay far more often than the actual crimson set, which would would think weird considering they were supposedly produced in much lower numbers.

Heh, I bought mine just after the con that year when they returned to Dallas or wherever they warehouse stuff. I was told at the time they only had 125 sets TOTAL because of the color goof up. That was in '02. I wouldn't be surprised if over 100 more sets have been sold/given away/auctioned off since I paid for mine.

The big difference everyone here seems to be missing is the boxed con set is so expensive because it is paying for the convention. If there was no convention to put on, I think the boxed sets would be a lot closer to what the bagged sets cost.
