I think the lowered number has everything to do with the fact that the boxed sets haven't sold out since 2002. There just aren't enough people really interested in them to sustain those production numbers. Which, doesn't speak to the popularity of this hobby when you compare it to ~20K numbers for Star Wars exclusives which sell out on the convention floor.
Do you not think that MC's price has any role? I think that if MC did exclusives similar to what SW does, you would see the MC exclusives sell like hotcakes. SW exclusives don't run $300, like, EVER. I think that if MC's prices were cheaper from the get go, they would sell out every time, because even with 25A, I think the demand is still there. IMO
